JC Penney's registry

Kelly, on November 23, 2015 at 3:14 PM Posted in Planning 1 11

So I was wondering if anyone had had experience with JC Penney's registry? Good experiences or bad? I just made a registry with them (like this morning) and have already experienced a ton of problems. the first registry I made just somehow disapeared (when I tried to log back in it didn't regognise my email even though I had gotten a confirmation email.) So I made a new registry and was only able to add one item (that would later disapear when I checked it on the app) before it logged me out twice "due to inactivity". Then when I would click on certain items it would bring me to a completely different item page AND logged me in to someone else's registry.

So I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has had these problems too.

Also if you have any recomendations for stores you registered at I'd love it because I'm having problems with finding a place.

ETA: spelling edit

If you are looking for a "brick and mortar" store to go with your registry I wouldn't choose JCPenney. There aren't many of them in my area or in PA where I'm from.

You can't go wrong with Bed Bath and Beyond. I also registered at Crate & Barrel and had a great experience.

That sounds like a nightmare and it means your guests will probably have issues too. Run! Run away!

We're using Macy's and Sur La Table, which have both been fantastic.

Yeah, I'm really hoping it's just a random glitch but I think we're going to end up going with Bed Bath and Beyond for our plates and silverware and maybe find another for everything else.

Staci- Most of our guests are from the midwest (Mn, Wi, Mi) with one or two from Cali area.

Hi @Kelly. I am from MN and we went with Herberger's and Target. Almost everyone has access to a Target, and guests can ship gifts right to your house. We had many people do that for the wedding so they didn't have to bring it.

I would suggest registering in store first. Its fun and easier. Then you can add things you didn't see instore, online. We used herberger's for silverware, serving ware, serving dishes, etc because we felt they were better quality than Target. But Target was better for games, bath items, decor, etc.

I have LOVED our BBB registry and Crate and Barrel. Between the two they really have everything. I have heard of people having issues with gifts not being delivered with Target. Otherwise no experience with JCP or other stores. I liked going online first to register for things, it was nice to read reviews about the items. Knives were another story, I highly recommend going in store to purchase these. Hand feel and weight were two important things in our knife selection. Also the guy at Crate and Barrel was super knowledgeable and busted out a cutting board and potato for us to try the knives out on!

I had some of the same issues with Macy's. I know I created one, but when I went to check it in store, the kiosk said I didn't have one. Yet, I keep getting emails about the registry specifically. I just gave up, as we had already registered at BBB & Kohl's.

I had a good experience with Target! I could easily add and manage online and returns were easy if it was on my registry but no gift receipt.

Herbergers I would give 7/10. They had a lot, a lot of good sales and let gift givers use lots of coupons on things like the $50 of $100. So a lot of people gave us $100 worth of stuff but spent $50. Not that the amount matters, but I felt we got a lot of the pricier stuff because people were able to use the coupons to stretch their budget.

My dislike was removing things from registry. If the person did it in store, it was easy. But we got some things that people forgot to have taken off and we had to call customer service to get them removed. It wasn't too hard but kind of a pain, whereas Target I could manually remove it online myself without involving Target employees if that situation occurred.
