January mini-moon ideas?

FutureMrsKC, on June 28, 2018 at 11:20 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

So we plan to do a mini-moon right after the wedding for a few days somewhere close-ish. We have a smaller budget and want something low key but memorable. We live in NE Florida, so we are a little torn on where to go. We considered going south, maybe to the Florida Keys or the Bahamas, or we could go a little north to a snowy cabin in the woods with a wood burning fireplace and cute little wintery towns.

Because we don't get snow where we live, and I grew up around snow, I definitely miss it and want FH to experience it. This Florida boy has never thrown a snowball!!!! However, this past winter was brutal (for us) and we were pretty over the low temps come January/February so I'm afraid we will feel that way again this year.

Does anyone have any suggestions or preferences on where to go? We live close to the beach so I don't want to go somewhere just to lay on a beach all day. We are looking for relaxation and fun activities as well.

Would you pick the cold romantic winter honeymoon or the warm tropical honeymoon?

Love Savannah! That's actually where we got engaged! We live only 2 hours from there, so we were hoping to maybe go a little farther, and to somewhere we haven't been.

January Bride here from up North (compared to FL!)- My fiancé and I are torn on whether to spend our honeymoon in a tropical location (which would get us away from the snow) or up in the mountains of Vermont!

Having our wedding in January is important to us as this was when we met, and find that we were able to bond the most, between cold weather snuggling, and snowboarding (how we met!).

As for you, fortunately you are close to white sand beaches- I would suggest you take advantage of an adventure to do something new and exciting. Plus, what's more romantic than snuggling in front of a fireplace in a cabin Smiley smile

We also picked January for that reason! We are actually getting married on our anniversary of when we started dating so we can keep the same anniversary forever (easier for FH to remember!) Vermont sounds so beautiful!

I agree with wanting to do something in the mountains, because the beach is so accessible to us! A cruise is also in the back of my mind but I've never been on one and I'm afraid of getting sick.

We are in January as well! We will actually be on our honeymoon during our dating anniversary so it will be extra special. We are thinking a tropical destination since we live in NJ and it gets very snowy and cold in the winter but I see why you would like to come up north.

Have you thought of New York (upstate or city), Vermont, or Massachusetts? They are all great places to visit in the winter.

How about a cruise? FH and I are going for a short cruise leaving out of Miami for 4 days. We are going to the Keys, and Cozumel. Also it was a short trip 4 days. Cruises give you a cool, vibe on vacation, without just being on a beach because there is so much to do!

If you are getting married in January and want to go north, I suggest , the Poconos in PA. If you sign up the for "Time Share" presentation, you will get a full suite a a very very low cost . Even if you do not do the time share to save money, Then stay at a local hotel. Its beautiful in the winter time with lots of outdoor Activities. Also, Allegiant Air has very affordable flights to PA. Hope this helps.
