Jamaica Resorts

We did a family vacation at Hilton Rose Hall about ten years ago and had a great time. The property was quite large, so there was plenty of room to wander around while still staying safely within the compound. We had a water front room fairly high up in one of the towers, and pretty much watched weddings on the beach below our room every day. The employees were very friendly and helpful (we also tipped well...). It is a family-oriented resort, and we pretty much spent time every day on the lazy river. Food options were good. I'm not sure there was a ton of "night life" if that's important to you and it's not your typical "bright blue" tropical beach. I think we left the property three times in the week we were there -- always as part of an organized excursion. We ziplined (super fun, but we realized years later when we did it in the US for the first time how truly lax the safely standards were in Jamaica...luckily we didn't know any better... ; we went to Dunn's River Falls (SUPER touristy, but fun to do once); and to tour the old Rose Hall Plantation. Other than that, we stayed on property all week and kept busy (at a very relaxed pace). We were there in July and it was pretty hot and humid -- I basically wore a swimsuit and cover-up all week and I'm not usually the type to walk around in a swimsuit all day. Also, nearly every afternoon, there would be a sudden downpour. It wouldn't last long, but it would leave EVERYTHING completely soaked for an hour or two. It's still the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken. Good luck!
