So my wedding is in the winter, in northern PA, so it will be cold. As such my girls have asked if they would be allowed to wear little shrugs or bolero jackets and I am all on board with that. So my wedding is in the winter, in northern PA, so it will be cold. As such my girls have asked if they would be allowed to wear little shrugs or bolero jackets and I am all on board with that. There is one issue, some want to wear them during the ceremony and I am worried about them looking too casual if we are trying to find ones for warmth. I don't want the super fancy ones, they are usually lace and offer no warmth, but would prefer not sweater like ones that look like your ready to lounge by the fire. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mehhh I really am not a fan of boleros, especially with those dresses. Why are they so deadset against shawls? They can be draped to cover arms/shoulders.

I personally love pashmina cuz you can use them again in so many ways. My one bridesmaid is super self conscious of her upper arms, she has a tattoo she hates on one arm, but all the dresses with sleeves looked...well bad.

I was in a wedding where it was cold and the gift the bride gave us were grey pashminas, which went really well with our dresses. For a few of the outside pictures we all wore the pashminas. Maybe you could gift them all the same color pashmina so it's matching and then a few of them could even wear it during the ceremony if they want? She had ours monogrammed in white. Great gift!!!

See thats what I was thinking of doing. But I dont want to buy them something they don't want. So I am trying to feel them out now. I think the pashmina would be perfect, I just want them to feel the same way.

I kinda feel like saying I will buy them the pashminas to wear or not wear for the ceremony and pictures and if they want something else for the reception they can wear what they like. I mean at that point its all about be comfortable and having fun. Men usually take off their jackets so I dont think it has to be "formal" then.

ETA: Would it be rude if I said that to them?

I bought my girls faux fur wraps and matching muffs from David's for outdoor photos. They didn't wear them for the ceremony though.
