Jacket or No Jacket??

Future Mrs. S, on August 29, 2011 at 11:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I need some help ladies! What do are your honest opinions on the Groom and GM's not wearing jackets? I'm having a summer wedding, and it tends to be hot here, 30 degrees (so 86 fahrenheit) on average in July. I was wondering if you ladies think it looks just as good when the guys are in dress pants, dress shirt, vest and tie, with no jacket? My FH really likes this idea since he doesn't like the heat, and I can't decide if I like the look or not! Any help is appreciated!

I think they will look awesome without jackets! My FH and his GM aren't wearing jackets (but they are wearing silk shirts, not vests and ties) I love the look of vests and ties sans jackets Smiley smile

I think its a great idea, even if you had them wear the jackets just for the service then took them off for the pictures. At least then your photographer will have some taken with the jackets on and off.

Question: are you from Drumheller AB? If so im in Edmonton. From NL but living in good ol Etown for the time being.

Are you getting married outside? i think it would really depend on the "feel" of your wedding; if it's more casual then you could go nice slacks and shirts (w or w/o a tie). but if you are going formal then you want a tux (or nice suit at least).

if they are wearing long shirts, it's not going to be that much of an issue if they have a jacket on too. and besides once you all have the first dance, they can take them off.

i'm getting married the month after you and my fh is a HUGE sweater, lol but we are getting the lightest fabric suit we can as well as a VERY thin dress shirt. our reception planner has also ensured us that the air conditioner will be fully functioned for our day!

@ Michelle - I bet that would look really nice with silk shirts! FH doesn't like silk though lol so that wont work for us! I like the look too, just can't decide if I'd miss the jackets or not!?

@Sam D. - The Ceremony is when he doesn't want to wear a jacket for!! Even though it's only going to be about 20-30 min, he doesn't do well in the heat! But I was thinking maybe have a jacket for some pictures after and not during the ceremony?

And yes I am from Drumheller, AB Smiley smile Nice to see another Albertan on here!

@ Jakita - We are having an outside wedding, in a park here in town. It's only going to be a semi-formal wedding, so that's why I was thinking dress pants, shirt, vest, and tie. I tried explaining to him that he gets to take it off at the reception, and we could try and get a light fabric, but he doesn't seem to think it would be cool enough. He's really pushing for no jacket! I'm thinking it might come down to me going with them to see if I like the look on him and his GM's.

We did this for our May wedding. DH was VERY adamant about not wanting to wear a jacket. it was an outdoor wedding and reception. Oh, and at the reception most of the guys stripped off the vest and rolled up their sleeves, and still looked nice in the shirt with suspenders Smiley smile
