Ivory/Champagne vs Solid white

Blanca, on May 6, 2017 at 2:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

I just got my dress today!!

I'm having a panic attack over the color though. My dress is ivory over champagne but I will be getting married in a Catholic church. Should I be worried about not wearing white?? Smiley sad I can't sleep just thinking about this...

My uncle's wife saw the dress and said "be ready to be criticized!"

Really?! Is it that serious?

No it's still going to look like a white dress. Pure white isn't flattering on most people. Also, I love ivory lace over champagne, you can see the detail in the lace so much better. The things we think about in the middle of the night.

I feel like most brides wear ivory of some shade now. My bridal shop didn't even stock the really stark white dresses! The lace detailing has a very traditional feel.

On a side note, did you show your dress to your priest? Some parishes (especially those with conservative priests) want your back and shoulders covered. Your dress is gorgeous and you shouldn't worry too much, but just something to ask in case you need a topper for the ceremony. There's been a couple posts on here where the priest waited told the bride last minute she needed to cover for the mass, so it would be better to know now than closer to your wedding date!

It looks white to me! Lol when I got my dress the consultant said a lot of ladies go with ivory because white isn't flattering on some people. I went with ivory because I didn't like the blue/green hue the white dress had to it. My FH had only one request and it was to get a white dress lol but my FMIL said he wouldn't even tell the difference. I am also getting married Catholic Church if that makes you feel any better Smiley smile

I got married in the Catholic Church and wore ivory over nude. When I got to the altar the priest leaned in and said "you look beautiful". No one can tell the difference, you are totally fine Smiley smile

Ivory and champagne are so close to white no one will notice. I'm getting married in the Catholic Church as well and my dress is ivory and strapless, so I think you're good. Beautiful dress by the way!

You and your dress are absolutely stunning!! That lace! That train!! Your uncle's wife can stfu because ivory is still a shade of white and it looks so pretty on you!

I think you're covered enough but I don't know the rules/customs of your church on modesty... But I've def seen less modest dresses at Catholic weddings.....

Most 'non-white' gowns still qualify as white. Thankfully, because very few women look good in pure/diamond white. It's a beautiful gown and you'll look great. No one will criticize you.

Not sure what the color has to do with being Catholic. I'm Catholic and have never heard any comments about dress color. Your dress is beautiful!

No church is more stringent than an Orthodox Church. That dress is beautiful and the days of wearing a all white dress are over. Rock that dress and hav a wonderful day.

The Catholic Church doesn't have any rules about what color you should wear. I wouldn't be concerned
