The dilemma of of having a ivory/champagne color gown and being told that if the groom shirt is white the pictures makes me look like my dress is dirty! How accurate is this? I’ve tried so many angles of taking pictures with the dress and white shirt and trying to find a shirt to match my color is throwing my main color for my wedding party off Any ideas or recommendations?
You'll be able to see the contract between the colors. I think it would be more pronounced if he doesn't wear a jacket or vest. I don't see a problem with it though.
When we went to get my FH's suit, they asked what color my dress was, specifically because of this reason. My dress is ivory, so all the guys will be in ivory shirts.
My dress is champagne and ivory. My fiancé is going to wear a white shirt with champagne tie and pocket square. I’d rather do that than try to match my ivory.. a lot of ivories I see are so yellowed compared to my dress.
My dress is ivory/champagne and FH will be in a charcoal suit with a black shirt and charcoal tie. I was considering a white shirt but now I'm glad he pick the darker colors.
Wow I didnt think of this and the shop didnt even ask. I'm glad that I just read about this. I will need to pull my dress out and look at it because in the store it looked off white (sample) which is what I wanted but they told me it was going to be white when I ordered.
My fiance and I have a similar situation as my gown is technically considered ivory and creme but in pictures it looks more on the white, not bright white. My fiance's suit jacket will be white with black lapels. We were in a suit store and the salesperson said that we HAVE to match one another and it wont look right blah blah blah. It made me worry a little. However, I started googling and finding pictures of couples who may have not wore the exact same shade of white and it looked just fine to me. We're not going to change what either of us are wearing.
I think it only matters if he’s only wearing a shirt and not a suit or tux. If he has a jacket you can really tell. I recommend to get a vest same color as your dress or the vest to match the suit color where is black, blue, gray. Just so is not a complete different color all along.
My dress is the champagne ivory as well. I don't like the stark white look because it's too bright for my personal liking. My FH (and groomsmen) will be in ivory shirts and brown vests.
My dress was ivory with a moscato underlay and my H's shirt was white from Jos. A Banks. Ivory shirts often look yellow and dingy. Do white, nobody will notice.
Most people here are overthinking this. Your ivory dress won't look dingy or dirty next to him if he is wearing a white shirt. It will just look ivory. And actually, bridal ivory looks more white than true ivory. Ivory shirts for men tend to look yellow. I think you won't like how his shirt looks in pics if you get ivory. My DH wore a tux with a white shirt (standard tux attire) and my dress was ivory.
Actually with your dress having a champagne underlay it’s less likely to look dingy. If your dress was all ivory next to a bright white shirt it was be much more obvious. With champagne underlay the dress takes on a new color and it’s obvious that your dress isn’t trying to be white. All that being said I don’t think any color dress will clash with the white shirts the men wear!
Without realizing it, my "french beige" gown actually looks gray.... can't return it now! Definitely having some buyers remorse because it was not the look I was going for, but oh well! I'll roll with it! All of our other colors are warm... like blush, gold, and burgundy. And then, there will by my dress with the complete opposite tone!
Nope... I had an ivory dress and my groom wore a white shirt and vest and I do not look dirty... lol The bride will never look dirty... you're the bride, you're the one that looks perfect no matter what color or off color you wear. If you love it, own it girl!!! It's on purpose you are choosing this dress, color, etc. And not everything has to match you either... Do what you want, have the colors you want for you and for the party...
I think you can go to the store and have him try on the champagne vest with an ivory tie with the grey suit and see how he feels about it. Also how you feel about it. That’s why you are paying for the service, so you can find the right look that fits him with you perfectly.
