Ivory wedding dress .. color of grooms shirt?

Kelly, on June 17, 2019 at 6:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
My wedding dress is almost white almost ivory lace with a nude underlayment. My groom wants to wear a white shirt (no suit coat) with a vest in our wedding color. What color, ivory or white should his shirt be so one of us doesnt look yellow?!!!!

I think his shirt should be ivory, but there can be different shades of that too. Maybe buy the shirt and put it next to your dress???? When my dress comes in, it's ivory we are going to put it next to his jacket to see if it matches

My husband wore ivory and it worked well. But it depends on the shades of ivory. Men’s wearhouse has the yellowest ivory I’ve ever seen but the tux company we bought from it was more of a bridal ivory which is close to white

Some shade of ivory for sure. Doesn't really matter what shade as long as it's not bright white.

Ivory and white can look good together. One being yellowish next to white white is fine. As standard ivories are. But those which in paint or general fabric colors would be called bone, not only a slight or more tint of yellow, but with a greyish or brownish undertone as well, the off white of old bones, or eggshell white, will not look good. It makes one look discolored or dirty. So really, if you can bring a dress sample, to a shirt, is the best way. If you see a warehouse of wedding dresses labeled some shade if white or ivory, you would see more than 100 color gradations. A stock of shirts, maybe 20-30 shades. Pure white, or snow white, a slightly bluish tint, goes well with and ivory with a slight yellow tint, or the yellower creamy ivoryy. Different tones , clearly, but neither takes away from the other, and it fact different tints photograph better when side by side, because the lines of the dress, or a slightly different veil, and a slightly different shirt or tux, show their distinct lines without merging into one blob if white in very bright, it very soft, lighting.
And different iviries more or less yellow, fine together. And two slightly bluish. But if either has a greyish or brownish bone undertone to a white or ivory, the other needs to have it too. I make quilts, as well as having worked with wedding dresses. And people have this, will ivory look dirty disagreement because each has in mind a particular set of colors. But with 20-100 shades on the market at the same time, it is not clear cut. Actual fabric comparison helps.
