Ivory Linens and Prime Rib or Keep the Scheme!?

Lisa, on August 17, 2021 at 9:42 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 26
So last night my fiancé and I had our food tasting and afterwards we trying to decide the best way to spend about $1,100.00.

We initially were going to have a roast beef craving station and all our linens be a dark teal velvet.
But last night we were talking about upgrading to the prime rib and changing the linens to ivory.
I feel it makes sense to change to the better food but without the dark teal linen, we kind of lose our color scheme since the linen is the only place other than our MOH dress this color shows on our wedding day. We could change the napkin color to this but it’s about double ($225) more than what we are paying now.
What would you do? Keep everything as is or swap it and/or eat the $225 to keep the color scheme? Ugh! $225 isn’t horrible but trying break even.

I think I would leave the color scheme as it is now. Especially because it brings in the color from your MOH dress. People are going to care what color the table cloth is. At the end of the day I think it’ll be what you’d want to remember the most. Personally I would rather the real color than the ivory. I recently was at a wedding that had teal linens and it was beautiful. Hopefully this helps some. Best wishes ❤️

I would upgrade the food. As a guest, I can honestly say I have never paid attention to the color of the table clothes or napkins or even thought about whether they matched the MOH's dress. However, I do remember if the food is good.

Agreed with Hannah - guests will remember food far more than linen colors!

So the ivory is cheaper than the teal, so you'd go to a cheaper linen for better food? Just wanted to make sure I understood. I agree that food is more important although roast beef and prime rib are both good! Could you put more teal in the centerpieces or somewhere else?

I think you should just eat the 225. In the grand scheme of things spending 225$ Extra to have the wedding you want isn’t too much.

Upgrade the food and not worry about the linens, keep the dark for your color scheme.

I’d say keep the teal for you. As a guest, I’d be super excited about roast beef carving station OR prime rib!

I have teal linens at my wedding so I am biased on this aspect.

Is there something else you can cut out completely that isn’t important? Favors, programs, champagne, limo, etc? As a guest, I can’t tell you what any tablecloth color has ever been. Some didn’t have any. But people always remember food and whether it’s good or bad.

We are leaning towards the upgraded food as much as I want the teal linens!

That's the problem, I can't have the dark overlays with the upgraded food.... bummer.

That's what we originally thought, too! But now we are second guessing, ugh!

Not really, these are really the two items we have to figure it out with.

Yes, the ivory is included in our package and the teal is a significant upgrade. The only other thing I can think of is the up lighting color... maybe. Thank you for your comment!

Is there somewhere you can add teal and stick with better food? Lights or something else?

Half the tables will be just this color, half will have a lace overlay. It was an upgrade.
