Italy! Where to go!? What to do!?

Ebony, on February 18, 2020 at 3:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 3 20

My DREAM forever has been to go to Italy! And what do you know we're going for our honeymoon! Any suggestions of where to go? Or even the Do's and Don'ts? We are flying into Rome, however that is not where we would like to spend majority of our time; I know Italy has much more to offer other than Rome.

- I am so excited about going I am almost overwhelmed when thinking about what to do or where to go while we're there. lol

Rome itself is just so beautiful as is all the other places in Italy. Get a lot of gelato and wear comfy shoes because all the landmarks are sights are worth seeing

Go to Positano! I’ve still never been but it’s my FIL’s favorite place on earth and where I wanted to spend most of our hypothetical Italy honeymoon that we ended up not doing (due to budget and my stress level about traveling lol)

I personally loved Venice. I also second Positano. I haven't been but that entire area is just beautiful

We loved Italy and want to go back!!

I suggest booking tours ahead of time because sometimes the wait is very long or not available at all. Make sure you bring a crossbody bag to keep your personal belongings close - pickpocketers! Make sure you EAT! The food is different in the many regions than you may be used to but it is all delicious. If you can, make sure you spend a day or two in Venice and don't skip the blown glass tours if offered by the hotels.

We technically didn't book through an agency. My mother in laws gift to us was 2 tickets anywhere in the world we wanted to go, so we booked through her lol I wish I could tell you where to start with that Smiley sad

Do you flying into Rome or Milan? or anywhere else?

We are going to be there for 8 days! We definitely plan on hoping on trains to travel to different places.

Honestly in my opinion, i would do some research on where you want go so that you can see where you want to fly into to. I wish we would have done it that way first because if I could rebook our flights I would have done it out of Florence instead of Rome. I mean i could rebook our flights but we have GREAT seats and I don't want to risk that lol

My recommendations would be doing a day trip from Rome to Capri. It’s absolutely stunning. Also, we stayed in Siena for 2 days and did a vineyard tour. One of my favorite days in Italy hands down (but I love wine). Florence has so much more to offer and I wish I had planned to be there longer. Lastly, cinque terre is absolutely gorgeous. Again, there is so much to offer.

I hope this helps and enjoy your time!!! Honeymoons go by so quickly!!!

We are planning to do Italy for our honeymoon as well. We are flying into Rome and then going straight to Sorrento for a few nights. While in Sorrento were planning to do a boat trip to Capri one day. Then we’ll head out on the Amalfi Coast where we’ll stay in Praiano for a few nights but plan to explore the greater area. At the end we plan to go back to Rome for a few nights before we head out.

In Venise grab some to go Spritz and hang out on the Rialto bridge during sunset, (crowded for sure, but so much fun). Don't be afraid to get lost, so many books and cranys. In Rome climb to the top of the 'Alter of the Father land' for an amazing view. And have an espresso at 'La Casa Delle Caffe Tazza d'oro' near the Pantheon (super touristy but so very good and only 1€ take away). Florence is a favorite. So beautiful and there are gelato stands everywhere. The buildings and artwork are incredible and scenery for days. Head to Naples for authentic Italy and Pompéi for ancient history, fall in love with the looming volcano and try some wine and eat pizza everyday.
