It happened to me ... I hate everything ...

MrsD2011, on May 30, 2011 at 10:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I went to the bridal salon today because I need a little jacket to go with my dress, and I had my shoes and jewelry and wanted to be sure they matched (they did) but I took one look at me in the dress and I hated it, all the sudden I hated the dress, hated the way I looked (and I'm 25 lbs lighter) and then I broke down in tears when I saw the bm dress sample which is the exact same color of the girls' dresses because it looks RED not Wine but RED and the champagne tie looks absolutely horrid ... So yeah and it is way to late to change anything, as there are no refunds, exchanges, and the dresses are going to be here in 2 weeks Smiley sad so now I'm stuck with a wedding gown I hate, bms dresses I hate and a veil and headpiece I hate ...

A lot of brides seem to go through this phase. Step back for a few weeks, do not think about the dress, and you will see why you fell in love with the dress. By the way 25lbs is fantastic!

Oh, Soon to be Mrs D.... You loved the dress before, They have time to take it in. I hope if they do some alterations you will love it again. There have been other brides on here that didn't like their dress when they lost some weight, but once it was altered, it was all good again.

And I'm sorry about the BM dresses. Do they just look different because it is a full dress and not a small sample? or did they order the wrong color?

And a tie, you can go buy ties for the men. This site has ties $4 - $6 and they have small ones to match the ring bearer too

Cheer up - it will all work out! (or I'll take you out for drinks when you get into town)

One of the biggest issues with buying clothing, and then loosing (or gaining) weight is that the style will then change on your body. What looks great at one weight may not at a higher or lower weight.

Too many people do not realize this.

No no, the dress was the sample, it wasn't mine, mine won't be in for another 2-3 weeks, it was the size 14 sample and it was way to small for me but I tried that same sample on when I ordered the dress ... and I loved it and the bridesmaids dresses was also the sample, I took one look at it and cried because the wine is so red it is not wine and the champagne tie goes around the girls dresses ...

I bought my dress really big, but when clamped up, wow! It looked amazing. Give yourself a breather and try not to stress over it. It is honestly one day that your dress will be used and I'm sure you fh will love it either way!

It could be the lights in the store. You know they are changing the light bulbs to those stupid new ones and they really do not have the same kind of light. And they time of the day, and the seasonal light can be different and your mood and the stress of getting married all add to your view on the dress. Step back and enjoy the lbs that you have loss. Everything will be fine. Take a deep breath and take a few days off from it all and give yourself time to regroup.

I know how you feel. I actually hated how I looked ON my wedding day. Had zero confidence to walk down the aisle. But finally realized I dont care cause I'm getting married and how I look shouldn't affect the decision to get married. I know we all want to look perfect but even though I hated how I looked I got a ton of compliments. I'm sure being down as much weight as you are you will look amazing. So breathe and remember the reason for the wedding

    Smiley sad

I'll still take you out for a drink when you come to IL if you still need one in October.

Maybe you can do the dress without the sash? or get different ones?

I'm sorry the red is not the right shade, but I hope you can make it work. The girls are not in too many shots with you. The day is about you and your hubby, and I hope when you get your dress in, it will be all that you wanted and more.

Good Luck ~ Cheer up ~ It will all work out in the end - You will be married to the man of your dreams, and that is what is important.
