Issues with getting in contact with a vendor

Ashley, on September 26, 2025 at 4:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 1
Hi,
I booked a vendor and paid the retainer and some extra, I contacted them to cancel and they were farther than I originally thought. They replied but said they were on vacation out of country a couple weeks ago and said yes they can refund the retainer, but I asked another question and a time frame so I can watch for it and now they are not responded to messages or voicemails. I’m starting to get frustrated and not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

That definitely sounds like a frustrating situation. The best next step would be to gather all of your documentation, receipts, emails, and messages where they acknowledged the refund, and keep it organized in case you need to escalate. If you paid through a method like a credit card or PayPal, you should contact them to see if a dispute or chargeback can be initiated.

It may also help to send a clear written message giving the vendor a specific deadline to process the refund before you pursue other options, such as filing a complaint with consumer protection or small claims. This way you’re covered on all fronts while still giving the vendor one more chance to resolve things directly.
