My wedding is Lord of the Rings themed. I'm looking for an officiant who resembles the description of Gandalf. Does anyone know of someone?

Update 2: After reading more of the helpful comments, what are the rules for if you just get legally married before the formal party? That way nothing is legally affected because it is just a person talking. Also attached dress photo

Update:

It is getting really frustrating when people laugh at what is our dream wedding. We don't want cardboard cutouts of characters. We will be wearing custom-made medieval-style flowing clothing and jewelry. The music is all celtic inspired, with some soundtrack mixed in. The idea is the look of the elves. Arwen and Aragorn's wedding was announced by Gandalf, so we want an older man with long hair and beard to officiate.

Oh and @OP if you want to hire an actor to do a reading/LOTR style unity ceremony/have him participate in the ceremony there is a website called gigsalad that you can hire actors in and after less than five minutes of searching I found two older men who have full white beards. Be sure whoever you do hire to be you get a contract about their attendance and performance AND appearance since that is exceptionally important to you

@MrsBdeG Oh trust me, I often did live commentary on many threads (FH was highly amused) and I was itching to jump into the action, but a. More often than not, someone voiced my opinion anyway, so not really needed and b. I felt I had to do an intro thread and I didn't know how to quite tackle that, so I resisted posting anything until then but... lotr broke me! xD

I think your priority should be to find an officiant that is good at their job and that you connect with. Extra points (I guess?) if they look like Gandalf. Just go with someone that you connect with since the ceremony is the most important and meaningful part of the whole day. And the whole reason everyone is actually there

@Shelob Looking forward to your intro post! My mom hated our "nerd" aspects of our wedding.

@OP Good luck with your search. I hope you can find a qualified person who can build a beautiful ceremony, legally, and matches your theme <3

Maybe having a close friend who is comfortable speaking in front of people become officiated? That way you can get someone who knows and agrees with your theme and can dress up for the ceremony.

    Just an idea! Smiley smile

Ali, I'm behind you all the way. As a member of the American Association of Wedding Officiants I've reached out to the membership in Florida for experienced professional officiants who fit the bill. I also recommend checking the "Orlando Wedding Vendors" facebook group and others like it. We'll do everything we can to make your dream wedding happen. Best wishes!

    It's *ordained* not *officiated*

Your officiant, like your BP members, is not prop.

OP I think the idea is awesome! I love LOTR! FH is having my wedding band engraved with "One Ring to Rule Them All" in elvish! I'm sorry for all the people bashing your ideas, but there is no need to call other people's weddings boring either.

I love the idea of hiring a Gandolf look alike to do a reading and pictures if you cannot find an officiant that fits the bill. I think it is better to go with a professional officiant.

Find an actor who looks the part and is also a Notary (legal in Florida).

So I just stumbled across your account since I was browsing for things on themed weddings and I just want to say I really hope you don't get discouraged because you're literally planning my dream wedding right now. I'm in the very beginning stages of planning ours and while our current theme is "Viking Mead Hall Meets A Midsummer Night's Dream" (as close to LotR as I can get without actually mentioning it) I really wish I could do a 100% LotR wedding. 😭 I'll live vicariously through you.

Sorry I don’t have any advice but just wanted to say this is amazing! My fiancé and I are planning New Zealand for our honeymoon so we can go to Hobbiton and visit other filming sights. 😁
