Is Walmart a bad place to do a registry?

Heather, on April 13, 2016 at 11:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I'm asking because I live in a small town and I'm thinking of the guests that are from around this area and Walmart is everywhere. There is a target about an hour away but I honestly don't know if people like my grandma and older relatives would want to go that far IF they wanted to get us something. I'm ok with not receiving anything I just know some people would want a registry to use...

I honestly wouldn't care, it's affordable and as you said is close to the town you live in. Or how about Amazon? They have the best tools and you can even add stuff from other places.

I work at a Wal-Mart and the gift registries are confusing. I'm order for an item to be marked off your list it has to be bought online. There's no way to check items off so 90% of the time people get multiples of the same gift.

If online is the ONLY option for purchasing from a registry (as grace said), then Walmart wont convenience your guests more than any other retailer. I say register where you want if they are forced to shop from your registry online Smiley smile

From what Grace said, that inconveniences you but not your guests. (You'll have to take back the multiples and get something new.) I would include Target, though. They can ship things to you, but if they REALLY want to go in store, they can choose between Target and Wal-Mart.

The area I grew up had the same problem. Most people I know from back home register at Wal-Mart. Our nearest mall and Target was 2.5 hrs away. Maybe register a few things at Wal-Mart for those people who don't like online ordering and then a larger Target or Amazon registry?

We registered at walmart for that exact reason. We put most of our things on our BBB registry but we live in a small town that is about 30 minutes from the closest walmart and an hour and a half from target!

You should register wherever you want to! If people don't like it, they can just get you something else.

I would say Walmart for the non computer on line people and then like amazon or any other store that allows universal registry so you can add your Walmart items to it.
