Is tulle outdated?

3.6.10Bride, on December 3, 2009 at 3:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I have this thing for tulle. I used to work at JoAnn's in college and I loved the stuff. I just can't get it out of my mind that I would like to use it in my decorating somehow, but I'm afraid that my wedding will look like it's straight from the 1990s. Does anyone use tulle anymore? I have only been to a couple weddings in the last few years and don't remember seeing any.

The venue that I'm having my wedding at has tulle that they wrap around the banisters on their grand staircase. It looked really nice! They had white Christmas lights wrapped around the banister, covered with the tulle. I think it's ok to use!

I wanted to wrap it around the banisters with christmas lights too. I'm glad to hear it's still being used! And the super cheap factor makes it even better!

My venue does the set up inside the tent area and I can use tulle if I want and oh yes i'm all about it! they do lights, lanterns (in your colors) and tulle and I'm just going to have them use the lights and the tulle because I think it looks really nice.

Tulle will never go out of style. It's a staple for any wedding.

It's pretty much a staple. I think the "outdated" look comes from using it in a more "poofy" way instead of a more "drapey" way (if that makes any sense). Think about the difference in wedding dresses - 80s are poofy, modern are sleeker, more draped.

First thought would have been that yes it is. But reading all of your ideas I'm sure it will look just fine. Just depends on how you use it. Maybe if its with fake flowers and poofy than it might look kind of old school. But the twinkle lights sound like a great combo with it.

OUtdated? I don't think so. But over used? I think so, that's why there will me absolutley no Tulle for decor (the bottom of my dress is tulle and that's enough fo rhte day) There will also be no ivy or cascading bouquets!
