Is this website legit??

KayDwitWill, on July 8, 2013 at 8:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Last week, I posted that I was looking for a Sottero and Midgley dress that is now discontinued (I've attached a picture of it). I love the dress and want it. I've looked on every preowned wedding dress site I was told of and that I could find and no one is selling this dress.

Bridesease.com is the website where I've found this regular retail price $1,800 for $443! It sounds like a great deal but I want to ensure it's a legit deal or if it some website where they make the dress and I end up with a piece of crap dress. Has anyone heard of or use this site?

No I have not heard of the site, but I know they say to be cautious about ordering wedding gowns online. I know that on here you can look at the dresses and then you can search for a vendor in your state that may sell the designers dresses..Good luck.

I wouldn't do it, especially since it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I found my dream dress at a consignment shop, have you considered going that route?

It's a Chinese knockoff site. I would stay far away.

I'm looking up consignment shops in my area now and making a list. It's really depressing as I want to be able to try the dress on before I buy. I'll continue to look for it but consider other dresses as well. So far I only have 2 dresses I really like or now I'm back down to my 1 dress.

You still have a long time before your wedding-- keep checking the pre-owned sites. I didn't see my dress on there for months, and then finally one day it was there. You could also post ads in wedding site classifieds saying you are looking for this dress (weddingbee.com and projectwedding both have classifieds sections).

If you absolutely must use a Chinese site, do your research and try to find the most established ones. A lot of the sites change their names frequently to get rid of bad reviews, etc. A lot of brides on the boards at bestdestinationweddings.com use Chinese sites, so you may find more info there. Generally, I've heard better things about Jasminesbridalshop.com and fabulousu.com. FabulousU is also on Facebook, which is probably a better sign. Also, keep in mind that no work gets done in China during their New Year celebration (esentially the entire month of February), so you wouldn't want to order your dress around that time.

Idk if this is required by law but aome of the sites I looked at actually saud in their faq section or about us section that the dresses are made in their factory. I also emailed one of the sites aaking who designed the dress and I got a msg back from "contact " no return email adress or name of person who sent the msg.

another way to tell is copy the websites description of the dress into google and see if other .com sites are using the same pic. Good luck!

It is a Chinese knockoff site, but you will be surprised that the work they do really is quality work, i ordered my bridesmaid dresses from there and they were perfect! Just make sure upon ordering that they use the correct fabric and you have to stay on top of the mail for when it is suppose to come, 3 days for refund request, and you can pay with PayPal so it's actually very easy to get your money back through them. Hope this helps!

Is there a phone number for you to contact them in case of an issue? Some brides have had good luck with Chinese knockoff, and others not. Personally I wouldn't chance it with something as important as your wedding dress.

I'm avoiding the chinese all together. I'd prefer to buy a dress I can try on first. I still have some time so I'll be on the lookout.

I swear by DHGate for Chinese knock offs. The quality is amazing, I have several gowns from there and have not had any bad experiences.
