Is this too much for bridesmaid dresses?

Ok I have 4 Bridesmaids and we are shopping soon for dresses, yay! Obviously our first stop is Davids because they are budget conscious. But I recently went into a local bridesmaid boutique and absolutely fell in love with their dresses and picked out 5 that are absolutely everything I wanted! The colors are different (as I wanted) and are different shades of blush and nudes. They are gorgeous! I have looked at David's before and liked a couple styles but was not impressed with their color selection at all. And especially after seeing the dresses at the other shop I am underwhelmed by the selection at davids. The only issue is the average cost of the boutique dresses is $250-300. And being that the dresses are all different they vary in price. Is that too much to ask of my bridesmaids? None are really struggling with money but I feel guilty asking them to spend that much even though the dresses could definitely be worn again. Help!

I'd suggest a mix and match of the davids bridal sequin dress, maybe look for a used adrianna papell for the beaded one, show me your mumu for the loose and flowy and possibly something from lulus

Ask your BM's what's their budget before committing. However, $200 to $300 is a bit much. Shop around you may find the same dresses cheaper somewhere else.

Those dresses are nice but I think you could achieve the same look for less. Check out the Kennedy Blue bridesmaids line. They have some similar dresses and a few with sparkle!

I was in a wedding that cost me $250 for the BM dress plus $100 in alterations because the shop screwed up my sizing so badly. Not to mention an out of town-plan ride long weekend bachelorette party. All of this without asking any BM what they're comfortable with. Don't be that bride. Ask the girls their budgets.

P.S. My two sisters-in-law, who are my de-facto bridesmaids (I'm too old to ask my friends) bought their dresses on Etsy (two different shops) and they are beautiful! They need minor alternations but they are great quality and were around $100 each. I let them choose their styles and the colors are coordinating rather than matching.

Although i agree with everyone else to ask them, if someone asked ME to be a bridesmaids, I would honestly expect to pay that amount.. i wouldnt preferrrr to but as a regular guest Id pay like $100-150 anyway. Thats not everyone, but we all know weddings come with expenses. Now if they said they cant afford it and you still wanted those dresses then that's a little selfish.

I think anything more than $200 is a lot to spend on a BM dress. I went to a boutique for my BMs dresses too and I think they were priced at $230-250 originally but for some reason they gave a discount which brought the dresses down to $200. They also only required 50% down to order the dresses. Since you like these dresses so much, find out what kind of deals this boutique has and their payment terms before you completely write them off your list.
