Is this too much for bridesmaid dresses?

Ok I have 4 Bridesmaids and we are shopping soon for dresses, yay! Obviously our first stop is Davids because they are budget conscious. But I recently went into a local bridesmaid boutique and absolutely fell in love with their dresses and picked out 5 that are absolutely everything I wanted! The colors are different (as I wanted) and are different shades of blush and nudes. They are gorgeous! I have looked at David's before and liked a couple styles but was not impressed with their color selection at all. And especially after seeing the dresses at the other shop I am underwhelmed by the selection at davids. The only issue is the average cost of the boutique dresses is $250-300. And being that the dresses are all different they vary in price. Is that too much to ask of my bridesmaids? None are really struggling with money but I feel guilty asking them to spend that much even though the dresses could definitely be worn again. Help!

I've never been asked my budget Smiley sad However, I've been lucky that the dress was pretty cheap. I personally find $250-$300 to be very expensive for a BM dress. Then add the cost of alterations, shoes, hair and makeup. Not that I've ever used a pro MUA but I find that if my mascara is running low I'll make sure to get a new one for the wedding. I make sure my nails are done. And even though I do my own hair, if I desperately need a haircut, I'll make sure to do it before the wedding as well. Little things add up. But hey, maybe this is the norm in your social circle? But if you're questioning it, I'm guessing not.

Too much, I wouldn't want to pay that much for a dress for someone else's wedding that in only going to wear once even though I could comfortably afford it. Hell I was hoping to keep my own wedding dress budget below $500

There are plenty of places you can look online and find similar dresses that will cost less. I'd suggest giving your BMs a color scheme and length, even material if you feel like it, and then let them go out and find their own dresses (with the condition that they send you pics before they purchase, of course). That way you can get the mismatched look you appear to want, while letting them spend what they're comfortable with on a dress that they enjoy wearing.

All my bridesmaids have different budgets. One BM kept looking at $300+ dresses. Until I had to tell her that my sisters unfortunately were not able to spend that. Best would be to speak to each one individually.

I wouldn't consider spending more than $150 on a BM dress unless it was something I knew I'd be able to wear again.

And $300 is a lot for those styles. You can certainly find something similar elsewhere for much less.

Honestly, before even booking the appointment at David's Bridal you should have asked each of your BMs individually what they are comfortable sending in a BM dress. Figure out their budget, and then start looking at BM dresses.

Yes...I would be super annoyed. That's way too much to wear once.

Try Lulus! I've seen pretty blush dresses on there - most of them are under 100$.

Yes! That is a bit costly. I you want to be "budget conscious" as you mentioned, I would shop around. Azazie is a great website, and has 57 colors to choose from with great customer service. Bridesmaids can also sample dresses for $10. It's worth a try.

That's way too much and I would never ask my girls to spend that.

The dresses are gorgeous and I see why you love them. But it's still a lot of money. I agree with PP's and check out online to find some affordable dresses. They may not be exactly this, but I'm sure you can find something you love that will be in your BMs budget.

None of those dresses is something I would ever where again so I personally hate that excuse. Imo that's too much to ask someone to pay. Isn't letting each girl pick a dress she likes in her budget the whole point of having mismatched dresses?

David's bridal has some blush ones with beading at the top, they also have a long sequin one. Or you might be able to get dresses like that for less at a department store.

I think that amount is too much, but if you are saying none of them are struggling with money, then you can have a word with them. If they agrees, it will be good for you, but if not then you can choose other dress under there budget.

I would be super annoyed if someone asked me to spend that much on a dress, but I'm very frugal. Ask your bridesmaids.

Check out azazie.com for BM dresses. Beautiful dresses and all of the ones I chose are $99. They also offer a sample dress for $10 to try for sizing.

I've spent $250 as a bridesmaid for a dress but I did think it was a bit too high. I wouldn't go over $200 personally

I would never expect my bridesmaids to pay that much. I went to a boutique with one of my bridesmaids and fell in love with one of their dresses. Looked at the price tag - $289. Needless to say, I walked out. She ended up getting her dress at David's Bridal (online on Black Friday) for $130. As the other ladies said, talk to each individual bridesmaid and see what they're comfortable spending.

Yep, too much. You definitely need to ask them. I also second Azazie. I got my BM dresses from there. The fact that you can order color swatches (cheap considering they send you the color in every fabric they have it in), $10 to have a dress shipped to try on, and you can have them make a custom dress to your BMs' measurements (we measured, ordered the custom fit) and have minimal alterations to make). They don't charge extra to use the custom size.
