Is this package average cost or too much for a photographer?

I understand that it depends largely where you live, I don't live in a BIG city like LA, NYC, or Chicago but I do live in the Columbus area of Ohio which is well populated and growing.

Anyway, I searched for photographers around $1,000-$1,500 but noticed that for this pricing, I couldn't find the quality and style of photos I was looking for. I found this photographer I really liked. His quote for me was
$2,100 for 9 hours of coverage, access to all raw photos, full printing rights, no additional cost for any additional raw photos I want edited, and a discounted engagement package for $200 (normally $400). Optional add on is $50 per hour for a second shooter (minimum 5 hours so this is $250). That's a long time, but more is better. We only really need about 6 hours of coverage lol.

I noticed a lot of other people I talked INCLUDE their second photographer whereas mine is another fee if I want one. ALSO, I noticed just now on his website that his BASE package is $2,000 not $2,100 like I signed on the contract so I'm not sure why it was $100 more but I'm about to e-mail to ask why is there that $100 difference.

Does this sound about right ($2,300) for the package? It would be $2550 with the additional second photographer).

My photographer had a wedding package that consisted of 8 hours of photography and a digital album of all the photos for $1200. I am in Georgia which I believe is on the lower side of wedding costs so your quote seems way high to me.

For the cost of $1,200 here in Ohio or even around $1,800...the quality and style was not what I was looking for unfortunately. They were good but not great.

That does sound about average. One suggestion I would have would be to try to negotiate prices with your vendors. I was able to bring down the cost of my photographer by $500 and get up-lighting from the DJ company added on for free. Most vendors have some room in their pricing for negotiating and it never hurts to try! Especially if you're getting married "off-season." Good luck!

Haha, I tried that. I asked if we shortened the length if we could have the cost drop a bit since I really only need the IMPORTANT parts of the wedding day covered but he didn't budge. I won't regret extra moments captured though. If I had it off season, Friday or a Sunday, then I would've had a cheaper deal.

We are in Denver and paid $3,200 for 1 photographer for 8 hours. She brought an assistant, but they didn't have a camera. It included an adventure engagement shoot with 100+ edited pictures, 800+ edited pictures of our wedding + all unedited pictures, and a print release.

I can see why she was worth that price, I love your photos!! Sorry I creeped lol. This is the type of quality I'm looking for and I guess now that I'm thinking about it...many of the people were in that range with this quality. I found my photographer which I liked his style which seemed cheaper until I started to find a couple others who was around his price range but maybe a bit cheaper that we could've gone with but I just really like his "candid" type style for weddings where he catches moments but it's still artistic.

Hahaha thank you! My only regret is not hiring a second photographer. It would have been $400 more but I think we would have had a few more photos we didn't get.

I think that confirms my decision to go with a second photographer! I want all the moments captured that we can get!

Uhhh yeah I think that’s reasonable. I live in Wisconsin and my photographer is $4,300.
