Is this a crazy idea?! Recessional...

I’ve been hemming and hawing all day on what song to do for recessional

What you need to know: Private ceremony with immediate familyWe have a wedding singer/guitaristOpen Outdoor ceremony. - no tent - no arborReception is on a different day
What do you think of turning the recessional into “our first dance”
Pros? Cons?
Here is my current thoughts... it would give us an opportunity to do our first dance on the actual day of marriage. We would still do “the first dance” at the reception too but this version would be by the wedding singer. It would also be a special moment for us and for our family...
thoughts?

I guess I don't really understand. So you would finish your ceremony, kiss & become husband and wife, then start dancing instead of exiting?

I don't understand it either. I think it would be really odd if you did it the way MrsD said, but I don't know how else you would.

If it’s special for you, go for it! Most immediate families are small enough that you won’t really have a long aisle of people to “recess” down anyway, so I think this is fine. (So long as you’re not doing like a 15minute rendition of your song 😂) And it’s unique.

Correct. There’s no where to really exit too to begin with. We’d just be walking down the aisle to just stand there.
