Is the idea of eloping negative?

Like pretty much everyone has said on here... it is COMPLETELY acceptable and it's really up to you. Though I do think, to avoid any hurt feelings/etc, you should be straightforward about it BEFORE you go get married. Not to say this will make everyone happy, but generally people tend to react more negatively when you come back and go "oh by the way" as opposed to you telling them beforehand

I wish we could of eloped...but I think I would of regretted it..no matter how much drama is in our family, I just can't see myself getting married for the last time not having a real wedding...walking down the aisle to my FH and having that experience...but that is my opinion..there are many beautiful places to elope too...so I think it is to each their own...

I know personally it was absolutely the right choice for DH and I for several reasons....the main being that we simply didn't want to wait another day We went to a small chapel and it was just the two of us and the officiant and then we immediately left town for a mini-honeymoon for the weekend.

I LOVE that it was TRULY about he and I and nothing else. We haven't told anyone and are still having the wedding for family on our 1yr anniversary.

Now, that being said....I kind of wanna strangle his mom every time she says "What's the point of waiting and having all this "to-do"?...Just go to the courthouse and be done with it"! So I agree, it depends on the couples motives and other people's tones when they suggest eloping.

Follow your heart, eloping is just fine and usually a lot of fun!
