Is Renting a Limo Really Worth the Hype?!?

HisBride, on August 21, 2013 at 10:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I will spend $100 on a pair of shoes and buy a $5 tee shirt if its what I like so it's not so much the amount as the value. I cringe at the thought of spending $900 to only actually ride in the limo for about 45 minutes. I'm considering renting a luxury SUV for someone to drive. Thoughts???

We cut the limo awhile back, and it was a huge weight off my shoulders. The logistics of getting picked up here, dropped off there, who goes in it, timing, etc. was just a pain in the butt! Plus we're saving a lot of money now. Instead I'll be driven around in a Chevy Avalanche, because that's what my dress will fit in!

I'm looking at $495 for my limo and I think that is crazy expensive. I think it would be nice and it's in my budget, but if things get tight, it's the first thing to get axed.

We nixed the limo. Especially because the ceremony and reception are in the same spot. It just wasn't important to me and when I'm on a tight budget, I only splurge on what I what I really want or need.

Yikes! That's expensive! We spent 1000 for three hours for a luxury limo 40 person bus. We had a huge group between bridal party and dates as well as a huge time gap between our ceremony and reception. For us, that was worth it, but I wouldn't spend 900 for 45 min. I think renting the SUV makes more sense

Every year at my old secondary school, there would be some group of girls who clubbed together to get a limo to drop them off for the winter ball. We tried it for our senior one just to leave with a bang.

Personally, it's really nothing special to warrant the money it normally costs. Vintage cars can be much cheaper and are a little something different if you want to get something special transport wise?

I wouldn't do it, save your money and get a SUV or nice luxury class vehicle from Enterprise and pocket the rest

Ditch it... You could spend that money on so many better things. Like your honeymoon! Our ceremony and reception are at the same place so it would be pointless for us.

IMO limos tend to create more logistical issues than they solve.

We had two brides, yet managed to deal with having the dude of honor (my son) drive us around in our own minivan.

For fh it was a necessity. We are actually using ours for the pick up and drop off to wedding reception then it will drive out of Towners from reception to hotel afterwards to avoid drinking and driving. It's also taking the Bp and friends out with us afterwards we have it from 3pm to 2am it's a 20 passenger stretch hummer and we paid 1600.00. I was more concerned with making sure our guests were safe after reception.

FH has a large family so those funds could be easily distributed to the catering bill! I did also consider Christine's view of having the limo transport guests because the bulk of the rental rate is a limo just sitting there at the reception.
