I've beem planning my wedding for a little over a year now. And I wanted to do something different. I'm my area it's usually barn weddings and rustic themes so I planned a vibrant peacock themed wedding. My FH is color blind so we picked very vibrant colors he'd be allure to see a little better. My colors are royal blue, emerald green and bright purple. I'm a pretty vibrant person myself so the bright colors go with my personality lol. I have about 300 peacock feathers to use for decorations. I planned to use them in the centerpieces and add them on the backs of the chair sashes. I'm also having my flowers custom made with silk flowers in my colors with some feathers and my flower girls will have peacock feather hair clips. My BM will each wear a dress in a different color ( I only have three bm) and the groomsmen and my bridesman will all wear purple ties. All of my other decorations will be in my three colors but fairly simple because I don't want to go over the top. Oh and I'm using a birdcage for my card holder... you know cause peacock lol. But know I'm starting to second guess the whole thing. My weddings in 4 months and what I thought was going to be this uniquely beautiful wedding with a touch of elegance I'm afraid is turning into a big tacky circus!!

I've seen photos of a super bright wedding with orange, pink, and I think yellow. If you lean towards a metallic-like color, it actually looks really good. If you're worried, I would add some black. I love the idea of each girl being in a different color dress, so maybe give them a black belt to wear. Keep the black as accents (I know some people will say opposite, but I promise you this works just as well) and leave your bright colors. The touches of black will harness it in a bit and still look wonderfully bright. Don't doubt the bright colors!!

I think if you're asking the question you already know the answer is yes.

That's pretty rude. Everyone else that didn't agree has at least offered up helpful advice. No obviously I didn't already know, which is why I asked the question. If you're coming on here with the intent to be rude I'd really you rather not. Thanks.

How is it rude? You asked a straightforward question and I answered in a straightforward manner. My guess is you didn't want to have your suspicions confirmed. You wanted to be reassured. You should have titled the post "Please reassure me", in which case I would not have replied. But if you want a useful suggestion, pull back on all the peacock feathers. The backs of chairs may be too much. May get feathers all over guests clothes. May make it look like a brothel and not a wedding. Hope that was more helpful!

I have a friend that did a peacock theme for her wedding. It was beautiful with all the colors, not tacky at all.

Actually no I asked a straightforward question looking for advice, which most offered. And I have taken some of these tips into consideration. I was not " looking for reassurance " I'm planning on utilizing one or two of the suggestions! I do not think feathers on my chairs will make my wedding look like a brothel but thank you for the advice. I'm done arguing with you. Have a great wedding. I know I will with all my tacky colors and feathers 😚

Well, you must share pics. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is looking forward to seeing how your vision turns out. Good luck!

I think this sounds so gorgeous and fun! I’m not a fan of the muted, lighter colors that are popular. I definitely understand wanting to go bold!

It’s easy for us all to second guess ourselves because we’re flooded with all these other ideas and visions during the planning process. But stick to what you like! You picked this cause it feels more like you and it sounds awesome, so just enjoy! And share pics like PPs said Smiley smile

I wanted to do a barn wedding but we have so many coming from a great distance we are doing a hotel venue instead. I like what you described and it doesnt sound tacky but I'd honestly have to see pictures, I'm more of a visual person. Are the color subtle, are there ways you can do subtle hints of colors throughout so the theme is apparant vs in your face? what's the cake looking like? Are the flowers neutral and then with the feather and do you need feathers on the chairs? Maybe just the centerpieces and that's it. BUT overall it's your day, enjoy it

I think it sounds gorgeous!! Frankly, if the guests have a comfortable chair to park their butt in, good food and good drinks, IMO the decor and theme are for you to go to town on!

Thank you all for the advice and kind words! I've definitely got a few things to mull over. I think I'll try to get my bridesmaids to wear matching dresses, but that's completely up to them. All of the fellas are wearing purple ties so maybe the girls can all wear green dresses. I gave them the decision on that. I'll also tone down the feathers a bit I think. Maybe less is more 😊 I could go without them on the chairs or maybe just one small feather on the back of each chair as more of an accent but not so much that it'll get on anyone? I'll look at some of my signage to see what I can go without as well.

I don't think it will be tacky. I think it's a really sweet touch for your fiance. For the rest of the decor you buy, I'd just buy white for tablecloths, chair covers (if doing them), chair rentals, tableware, etc. Then there is plenty of white to contrast the bright colors.

Thank you 😊 and that's what we've done lol. My table clothes, chair covers, card birdcage add dinnerware are all white, well the dinnerware is white with silver trim. The silverware is silver. I was just overthinking because I'm getting so close lol and it's not the norm. I bought string lights to hang in white and purple. I was originally planning on hanging both but I think I'll hang just the whites to tone it down a bit 😊 lol
