Is my song too long for walking down the aisle

Kaylee, on July 11, 2015 at 2:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

I'm getting married in September, and I am so lost. I've only been to one or two non-hindu weddings in my entire life, so I really don't know what is traditional or what is acceptable. (Hindu weddings have an incredibly different type of ceremony.) Music is incredibly important to my fiancé and I. We want a short ceremony however, and I am struggling to find a way to incorporate all of the songs that are important to us.

I really want to walk down the aisle to a song that is about 4 and a half minutes long. That will obviously be far longer than it will take for me to get down the aisle. Is it okay for us to just stand at the front for the remainder of the song? Should we cut it short? Do i have to pick a different song altogether? HELP!

I see 3 options for you: 1. Cut the song to your favorite part. You standing up there with nothing happening but the song playing will be awkward for everyone. 2. Do you have a bridal party? They could walk down the aisle to that song as well...them plus you might take the whole song. 3. Play it as your recessional. It can keep going even after you're done walking down the aisle.

You could start it a little before you walk down and then have someone fade it out when you reach the front.

Sarah's idea is good. The entire walk down the aisle will be about 30-60 seconds, so that's 3 minutes of dead time. 3 minutes doesn't seem like it is, but if you're either at the front waiting for it to end or at the back waiting to enter, it will seem like a lifetime.

I plan on the BP and myself walking down to the same song.

My BP is walking to one song and the DJ will fade it out when they're done. I'll start walking to another song and he'll fade it out at a specific point.

It is best to highlight your favorite section of the song and do a fade out.

If it comes to cutting, don't cut...fade the music. Works much better.
