Is late night snack worth it?

Ruggero To Be, on January 5, 2016 at 5:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Just wondering if late night snack is worth the extra money or if it's worth spending the money on something else.

With all the food at the weddings here (NJ/NYC) I"m amazed that anyone can even get through dinner!

No. But I DO like cookies and milk at the exit!

I have enjoyed it at every wedding that's had it! After a few drinks and lots of dancing, it's nice! My sister had fried cheese curd!!

I think it depends on a few things. I really wanted to do sliders and pomme frites as our late night snack, but it just did not make sense. We are having a cocktail hour with several appetizer options from 4:30 - 5:30 and then we are having a full sit down dinner 6 - 7pm. Our reception ends at 10pm so I don't see that anyone would be hungry enough for us to serve more food and we'll be serving cake. I have thought about doing a sweets bar though and having cookies, and cupcakes, cake pops for people to snack on and take with them for the road. Everyone loves a cake pop! However if in my case my reception were to end at midnight then I probably would serve a late night snack.

We didn't have a late night snack per say but we did do a s'mores bar with a fire pit (in addition to cake). Everyone loved it! If you have the money to do it and/or it's important to you then go for it. If not, then skip it.

Guests seemed to really enjoy our late night popcorn bar, and I've always loved late night snacks at other weddings. That said, if $ is tight it can definitely be cut. You'll probably still be legally married if you don't have grilled cheese at midnight Smiley smile

YES! We did a candy bar (all night) and a Poutine fry bar at 10:30 and it was a HUGE hit. I like to think it helped with the drinking as well as the fries soaked up all the alcohol haha

    Highly suggest it!

I'm always a fan of late night snacks. After lots of drinking and dancing what is better than junk food!

We served pizza at 11 and it was a huge hit! Only about half of our guests were left at that point (which was fairly easy to predict) so we didn't have to order as much as all the other food throughout the event. I was very happy to get some pizza as were all the guests who were still there at that point.

With a 5 hour open bar I'm doing late night snacks. I'm also not serving a plated dinner. I'm having food stations.

We are doing a plated dinner and I'm sure people will be full BUT we are going to do a late night snack. It's their philly package. It has a soft pretzel and cheese steak fries and and a water bottle. A lot of people are staying at the hotel with us and we will all be going to bar after the wedding. Personally I know when I get back to the room I'll want some grease.

I'd imagine it depends on how long your reception is and if there are a lot of drinkers. For us dinner will hopefully be over around eight, so we're haveing finger food around ten or eleven and then there are sandwiches in the residents bar later, usually sometime between one and two.

I thought it was. We did a popcorn bar for 250 people it cost us less than $500 and everyone absolutely loved it!! we where able to do it our selves just bought bags of nuts, eminems, pretzels etc from gordans or sams. Then there is a local shop that we got huge bags of cheddar, caramel, regular, and chicago style popcorn. Found popcorn buckets on Amazon and done.

A lot of our guests partied past 2am on our wedding. We did drunk munchies like salt n vinegar chips, doritos, chex mix, kettle corn, pretzels, reeses, peanut m&ms. They were a big hit!

It's not a necessity, but we are doing one since FH's family has a semi-tradition when it comes to the late-night snack. We'll be having mini cheesesteaks like several of his cousins and siblings have done over the years!
