Is it wrong to only have *beer/wine* for open bar??!

So my Fiancé and I are only planning on having 4 kinds of beer and 4 kinda of wine for our open bar at the reception. It’ll be a smaller wedding and reception. 50 tops. Maybe a signature drink as well. We haven’t decided that yet. That won’t make us look cheap or anything right? It’s a destination...

Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts on that were!

I don’t think it’s cheap. I’m having a beer & wine open bar as well mainly because my family aren’t hard liquor drinkers but will go thru some wine and also my wedding is on a sunday.

I think you should atleast offer signature drinks since people must be spending something to get to this destination wedding incomparison to a local wedding.

We aren't having alcohol at all...no one will miss it and no one will think we are cheap.

I think this is great. We were going to do beer wine only but our venue was reasonable for a full open bar. Signature drink would be fun and easy to do.

There are other drinks people expect besides beer and wine? (Note: this is sarcasm)

I think it is totally okay! You are throwing a party to celebrate your love! Have whatever you want there. My venue doesn’t allow red wine so I went out looking for another venue that would. I couldn’t find another venue and so people at my reception are just going to have to deal with not being able to get red wine.

I would be fine with that. As long as there's alcohol, and choice, and your guests don't pay for it.

Serve what you can afford. Not everyone likes beer or wine so have a variety of nonalcoholic options.

Open bar with beer and wine only is totally acceptable! Excluding liquor also lessens the worry of people get completely trashed
