Is it worth wearing a veil?

Ashlee, on August 21, 2016 at 4:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

So I bought my dress and when I picked it out they put a veil on me to give me that full bridal effect. I love the veil but is it worth wearing? I know the original reason why people wore veils were to cover their face but I don't want to cover my face. So since I'm not covering my face is it still worth wearing? Are you guys wearing a veil?

I'm wearing a veil. I put my dress on 1st. Then I tried on a couple others. Then my dress again but the 2nd time they added the veil and it made a huge difference

There's something magical about the veil that really makes you feel like a bride. Perhaps only wear the veil during the ceremony and then remove it for the reception. Also you don't have to select a traditional veil. Consider a bridal fascinator or a birdcage veil. Both are less traditional but still feel special.

The face-covering veil is called a blusher, actually.

I plan on wearing a mantilla veil. I think they're quite pretty!

I'm wearing a veil but there are veils that don't cover your face. Mine does not.

I really want to look as close to perfect as I possibly can for my future hubby... Who is 13 years younger then me! So do I go for a veil, or do I find something else???

To me it is I am having a double veil so I'll have a blusher. It is very important to me for religious reasons. It ties to a biblical story in the Torah (Old Testament)

I'm wearing a birdcage veil because it goes with the style of my dress. I do think veils are worth it! Like Randy says on SYTTD, anyone can wear a pretty white dress, only a bride can wear a veil.

I wore a veil and actually left it in all day. It was a perfect accent to my dress and I liked it a lot. It did not cover my face.

I'm going to wear a veil, because when else are you going to get a chance to wear a veil again?

I didn't really like how a veil looked on me... Even though it didn't cover my face or anything.

Michelle, a mantilla veil covers the top of the head like a headscarf like this:

I think it makes a big difference. I wearing a mantilla mostly because my wedding is at a Catholic Church, but you can wear something small or short just to give you that magical touch.

Traditionally, brides wore veils that represented their virginity. After the ceremony was over, they would usually remove them to signify their "becoming a woman." Many cultures have some form of this.

I'm not wearing a veil. I'm opting for something similar like in the picture to still add some interest and to make me feel special (I never do anything fun with my hair).

I only wore my veil during the ceremony. Definitely made me feel more like a bride. Plus it was the bottom of my mom's dress so it was sentimental.

I'm wearing a fingertip length veil, and wearing it solely as a trailing veil, where it hangs down from my hair rather than proofing up a bit and fanning out. I just personally prefer the look/style, and I don't want my veil covering my headpiece. I will likely remove the veil for the reception.

If you feel pretty in it, and you want to wear it, then yes - it is "worth it". Its entirely up to you!

Not everyone covers their face with a veil. You don't need to.

No veil here! I always thought I loved the veil and wanted it for my big day, until I put one on with my dress and instantly knew I didn't want it. Up to you!
