I thought we just drive the night of to our honeymoon destination but we would get there until 1-2 am and wedding ends at 10 pm. A) get hotel in hometown night of? B) go to honeymoon destination night of?

You'll probably exhausted. Get a hotel room. They may give you a discount or upgrade since you're newlyweds.

I don't think you'd get your money's worth if you arrived at 1-2am. You'd be paying an additional night just to sleep. It might be worth it to just go home and leave the following day.

Our reception is 30 mins from home. We are staying the day before and after the wedding. It is just too stressful to go back and forth. I would never want to risk anything when drinks are involved. We are staying the day before due to the rehersal dinner, and my FH is golfing in the morning. Girls will be getting hair done etc

Get the hotel room. Your wedding day is both physically and mentally exhausting. I couldn't imagine driving a few hours at the end of it. Our wedding was about 15 minutes from the hotel. My cousin drove my husband and I home and missed the exit and added an extra ten minutes on. I was ready to fall asleep before we even got back. I wouldn't suggest trying to do anything

I'm getting a room for two nights in a neighborhood that's much closer to our ceremony venue than our apartment, plus is the perfect getaway distance from our reception. I'll be staying there alone the night before and taking full advantage of the neighborhood, including going for a run in a certain famous park where we'll be doing photos before the ceremony. We're also doing pre-rehearsal dinner drinks at the hotel's rooftop bar, since it has great views of well-known landmarks in our city.

We are staying in a hotel in our city for a couple of reasons. We won't be going anywhere until the next day for our minimoon, I want to get ready with the girls in the hotel room day of and I wanted to stay somewhere other than our house on the night of. I think if it makes sense for you and you want to then its worth it Smiley smile

We're having our reception at a hotel ballroom, and we get a free suite with our room block, so we're using that. I guess it's up to you how much driving you would want to do. I would be tired after my reception and probably wouldn't want to drive that long right after.

We aren't leaving on our honeymoon for six months but we are still getting a hotel the night of the wedding. We figure we will be pretty tired. Plus our wedding block contract offers us a suite upgrade with "wedding night amenities" for the cost of a standard room. The hotel is only 5 minutes from the venue (which is about 20 minutes from our house). We plan on doing a horse and carriage exit from the venue to the hotel.

We had out-of-town guests staying at our apartment, so we went to a nice hotel on our wedding night. Went home the next day and packed for our honeymoon.
