Is it the dress? My heart knows i love the dress but it’s the bottom throwing me off.

Hello ladies, it’s my first time posting on here and I bought this dress. I was originally very happy with the dress. I had minimal doubts on the ruffles but I didn’t find anything I liked. Well fast forward the dress I realized is not it. I think the bottom is not what I want it to be. However the top is gorgeous and I love it. I have some ideas for changing the bottom of the dress. But I have no experience on how to go about doing that or how much it would cost. I need some help.

I think it's really beautiful but if you aren't sold on the bottom I suggest looking for a dress with the same style top and different bottom. You should like ALL of the dress. I will warn you I bought a dress and thought it only needed minimal work done...boy was I WRONG. I paid 1500 for the dress and then it needed $850 dollars worth of corrections to be exactly what I wanted. Take it to a few tailors and see what they quote you and make a decision from there. Just prepare yourself.

I think you look stunning in the dress! I think you should first look at other dresses to find out what you want the bottom to look like. Then see a few tailors to know how much time & money it'll cost to alter the dress! Hope this helps!

I need to go to some other places. However I already spent 900 for this one. I am upset that I didn’t make sure it was the right choice unfortunately no returns. And there was some I thought I would like but ended up not liking them because of how they looked on me.

Oh girl I feel you on this. That is what happened to me. No returns, nothing. I do looooove my dress but if I would have known it would cost that much to alter to look right on me I wouldn't have bought it. Your dress is really stunning and honestly I havent seen that skirt on many brides before. After alterations, I think you could really love it.

Yeah I have an appointment in June for a seamstress that was recommended to me. I hope she able to make it something I would like. I am thinking something like this. Is it the dress? My heart knows i love the dress but it’s the bottom throwing me off. 2

Okay, after seeing these 'would like it' pictures, it seems to me all you need to do is ADD tulle or some type of bottom slip to "poof" out that bottom. Betcha it will look more balanced to your eye. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes! I didn’t think of that! Maybe my seamstress can help or I can purchase a tulle. I just want more poof or something. I feel like my ruffles are there they just aren’t poofy, they remind me more of a petal.

You MIGHT be able to achieve the second look by wearing a mermaid underskirt to add poof

My tulle skirt had crinoline underneath to help it poof out more. Your seamstress could probably add some as well as additional tulle, if it is needed. Another option is to get a petticoat to go underneath. They sell mermaid petticoats of various kinds so your bridal salon or seamstress may be able to assist if you go that route.

Try on others! Seems like there are quite a few dresses in that style but the bottom will be different.

Sorry! I didn’t realize you bought it already! I hope your seamstress can recommend some ideas to make to love your dress (it’s gorgeous on you). If all you want is more poof, crinoline can work magic and not be very much money at all.

Hi and how are you? I really don't know what to say. I guess every bride has a moment when they think they bought the wrong dress. If you have to alter a dress that much to make it look completely different. Then I would say the dress isn't for you. And you may not like the dress after it's altered. I wouldn't change the look of the dress by altering that much. Maybe you can find a new dress if it's in your budget. Good luck

First and foremost: you look STUNNING in this dress. However, I totally understand your doubts on the bottom. You want to not just LOOK beautiful, but FEEL beautiful on your special day. If you aren't happy with the dress, it may show in your pictures that you aren't comfortable. Nobody wants that. I am in LOVE with the top, but maybe the seamstress can work some magic with the bottom. Either way, it is a wonderful dress and you look amazing in it!
