Is it tacky to print on both sides of the invitation?

KDS, on October 26, 2015 at 9:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I'll start off by saying that invitations are not super important to me. I plan on picking out a printable template from Etsy and having the invites printed from VistaPrint, CatPrint or Zazzle. No belly bands, no pockets, etc. Instead of having a separate "directions/events" card, I would just like to print all of that info on the back side of the invite. I realize that this is not traditional. Has anyone else done this? Thoughts?

I did something similar--ceremony info on the front, reception info on the back. Additional information went on the wedding website. I don't think printing information on both sides is tacky at all. I used Zazzle and was really happy with how they turned out. So I say go for it!

Not tacky, but I wouldn't do it if your wedding is formal. In all other cases, go for it.

Not tacky, but a lot of people might miss that info completely since it's unusual.

I tend to look at the back of everything, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you are having a laid back wedding I think it will be fine. If you are having something more formal, I'd go a bit more traditional and include the card. Printing up a separate one on Vistaprint is super affordable - I believe someone mentioned doing that info on business cards if you could fit it and you can get a ton for hardly anything.

It's your wedding. Do what works.

I like it, because it's more sustainable. Less paper, less weight.

I printed on both sides (mostly because I wanted more room to be creative). I say go for it!

I don't think it is bad. I always look at the back of things. Of course I can't speak for everyone.

@mtskier - Not tacky, but I would personally miss the information on the back. Especially since I tend to put invites on my fridge (so that I don't misplace them).

Could you perhaps put your wedding website information on the front so that if your guests don't see the back, they'll know to go to your website and get the information there??

Not tacky. I believe minted.com or weddingpaperdivas.com offer a service like this for the back of their invitations.

This would be fine if you're having a pretty casual wedding. I would not do it for a formal event.

No, I actually think that's a cool idea! if you're worried about people missing info, you could always footnote: "accommodation information listed on reverse" or something like that!

Not tacky, but leave a hint at the bottom of side one to turn card over!

I think it's fine. If you have a wedding website be sure to add that information in as well.

I did it for mine through Minted. I only had one older person who didn't get the info on the back right away. My invites were still super cute. We were going for eco-friendly not "cheap".

I don't think it's tacky but I know that personally I would definitely miss the back. A few months ago my friend sent out a birth announcement and I completely missed that the back of the card had a little something mentioning the baby's stillborn twin. I felt awful once I realized. (I knew about the babies but didn't see the tribute on the back of the announcement.)

I think it's fine. Invitations are becoming huge paper-wasters anyway since people in our generation probably go to the website for most of the information. After I open an invitation, I go online and RSVP and then default to the site that to remind myself where anything is.
