Is it possibly to only spend 5,000?

Joleese, on February 21, 2020 at 6:54 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 32
I really wanted to have a super small 50 people max wedding. However when I get to the venues most of them all start around 10k. Which is still really good. I fell in love with a venue in Florida and it cost $12,500. I thought that was a really good price because they pretty much set up and plan everything. Food, cake and open bar included. But my mom keeps complaining about the price and keeps making me feel bad because I want to have a beautiful wedding. I just feel like giving up and not having a wedding at all and just going to the court house.

Who’s paying? If she’s not paying, then don’t feel bad about spending your own money on something you want! Money can be made again but you only get married once (hopefully lol).

We had a $17k wedding for 100 people but we definitely could have done it cheaper if we had cheaper food, so I’d say $5k is definitely possible but you’d have to be very frugal. But if you like the place for $12.5 and you can afford it, go for it!

Yes, it’s possible, just have to be willing to give up some things. May not be able to have big chandeliers and such, but it can still be beautiful. It also depends on where you are getting married. I’m getting married outside and for 50 people, it’s $1200. Usually hotels host receptions for cheap. Some restaurants with event rooms are affordable too.

I think $12,500 for all that is good. I had to tune my parents out because when they got married 30 years ago things were very different. My venue was $3500 but included nothing. So we spent another $5,000 for bbq and alcohol and $2,000 for rentals. $1,000 for flowers and $1,000 for other decor. $444 for 2 cakes. So you can see how $12,500 all inclusive isn’t that bad. Obviously cheaper is better but the wedding industry has gone crazy so it’s kind of to be expected.

Where in Florida are you looking to have your wedding? 5,000 for a 50-person wedding in Florida is very doable. Have you considered a country club?

Well the place we found was in Tampa. Very beautiful Spanish style plantation. It would be an outdoor ceremony and reception. I would love to hear any suggestions that you may have. Thanks

I forgot the name of the company, but they offer ceremonies on Clearwater Beach and have a venue for the reception. I’m sure if you google Clearwater weddings, they’ll come up. They offer photography with the service as well.

I want to an outdoor ceremony but I’m not really big on diy. I’m just not really crafty. I know what I like I just don’t know how to execute it.

Okay yeah I'm in the Tampa Bay area. I would strongly suggest checking out the Avila Golf Club. A lot of golf clubs I've researched you could probably do a wedding and reception for about 5,000 or maybe a little more. Identifying that hotels are much more expensive. Especially if you want to do them by the beach. Are you talking about the powel Crosley estate in Sarasota? For 12500 to have all of that it is not bad but like other said if you are the one paying for it why don't you just do it?

Trust, I’m not either. The venue is “naturally” decorated. It’s a lovely courtyard with beautiful flowers everywhere. The venue provides the chairs which are cute. I’m not decorating a thing! 😂

Lol you are lucky I think I need to do more research. It’s so expensive to throw a wedding in New York (city) that’s why I was looking at venues in Florida.

It was the Casa Lantana. I will reach to the golf clubs. I know I reached out to a few of them and saw the wedding brochures. I will have to double check and see which ones they were.

It’s possible but not if you book with conventional venues, and especially not at all inclusive venues because they have to make a minimum and that usually meant for >75 guests or >100 guests in costs.

Look at parks, botanical gardens, historical homes, event halls, large homes with big lawns/yard/acreage that are rented out for events, etc. Choose a place that allows you to bring your own beverages and choose your own caterer. 5000 for all that is possible if you look at non traditional venues. Choose a naturally place you won’t have to decorate much if at all. At that budget, you won’t be able to have professional photography and videography but assign specific friend/guest to be photographer and Ask if they’re willing to do that as their gift. Get store bought cake instead of something custom from bakery. Limit to personal flowers only, not decor flowers and centerpieces.

Oooh that place looked lovely. If you don't mind outside catering look up the favors islands garden club and the Tampa garden club. Also the Orlo in Hyde park and Hyde house. Oh and the Tampa club.

Do what is in your heart. You will regret it the rest of your life if you don’t have the wedding of your choice. How does your spouse feel about it? Go to the courthouse for a parking ticket or to pay taxes, but if it’s not your dream to get married in a courthouse then I strongly advise against it. Some people actually just prefer to get married in a courthouse which is perfectly fine, but I don’t think it’s OK if your heart is set on having a wedding. Go with your heart on this one.
