Is it okay to wear a ball gown wedding dress at a beach wedding?!

However when we decided on doing a destination wedding I tried finding a more light and airy and beachy looking dress. But I have always dreamed of a beautiful ball gown with a long train and I just can't help but want to wear this!!! Would it look okay being on the beach and having a very small wedding or is it just too much?

Yes I love the runner idea and I will definitely look for some. I honestly can't imagine doing too much walking as the ceremony is a very small and intimate one. About 10 guests. Our sons will be standing with us and my family will stand around us, my planner recommended that because she thought getting the permits for seats for such a small wedding was pointless. I haven't decided if I will be walking down an isle. I want to but I am just trying to picture how it would look with no actual chairs lol so hard planning a destination wedding from that aspect. I wanted my son to walk beside me and my step sons to walk behind me holding my train. Not traditional at all but I've never been too traditional hahaha. Our children will be 4 5 and 6 then. So yeah still a lot of planning and stuff to do but I do love this Dress and I do not care if it gets dirty honestly. I'll never wear it again and the sand and stains can be a happy reminder of the day Smiley smile and I definitely want a picture in the ocean with the train going through the water. I think it would be beautiful. We are getting married at Sand Key. I've never been there but heard the water is very clear and beautiful?

Of course, you can wear whatever you want! I'm having a beach wedding and I'm going for the light and airy style. I don't want to deal with sand all over a trail! It just depends what's more important to you. I know I'm going to be dancing and running around barefoot so a beach dress is what works for me. Smiley smile

Yes, I am! Go for it! ETA: My dress is a light and fluffy ball gown, with no train (No dragging).

One of my brides was very petite and probably didn't weigh 100 pounds soaking wet. By the time she got half-way down the aisle, her dad was dragging her and the train (that had picked up about 20 pounds of sand). She was huffing and puffing when she got up to the groom and me!

It lovely and like everyone said in the end its your choice.

Personally I would take the picture to a bridal boutique and tell them you love it but you are looking for something better for a beach wedding. They may be able to find you something with the same lace and feeling without pooffy bottom and shorter train.

Brides, if you go with a fancy, formal gown -- make sure your groom is dressed appropriately.

One bride had a ballgown and her groom wore khaki shorts & a white polo shirt. He looked like a guest at her beach wedding!

I say no.. doesn't fit the attire for occasion. Beach weddings are more chill.. plus all that sand in your dress..
