I am in the process of getting almost everything squared away will planning but am having a hard time with some appointments being at 6 p.m. or on the weekends. I try to work around my work schedule but its getting difficult. I have yet to take a day off since Istarted my job last February. I have never been late or taken a sick day but I feel guilty if I ask to take a day here or there off to meet with the florist or J.P etc. Did anyone else take days off to get stuff done? I almost asked to leave early last week to bring my FMIL to look at dresses but chickened out and had to rush to pick her up for our appointment.

It really depends on how much PTO time you have. Or if you're willing to take UTO.

I haven't taken any time off for anything wedding-related yet... I'm taking a half day on April 22nd because my bridesmaids and I are traveling for my weekend bachelorette party.

But I work with three ladies who have engaged daughters, and they have all taken time off to help with wedding appointments/planning/shopping.

It depends on your job, but if you are wondering if it is okay to ask for a vacation day to do it, generally I believe it is valid and fine! As long as your job allows vacation days, etc.

Most vendors are used to people having this issue, however, so don't be afraid to book the last appointment for the day if you have to (sounds like you have been). Our florist stayed open late one night just to meet with us when we were searching. It was one of the reasons we decided to book her, I just thought that she cared enough to stay an extra 30 minutes and deserved our business.

Also, you could ask to leave early and come in early or something to make up for it, sometimes, depending on the job. If you are unsure, ask a coworker or your supervisor.

I thankfully have a long lunch break, so I tried to schedule most stuff during that time. Otherwise, I arranged to leave a little early. I wouldn't make a habit out of it, but sometimes taking that time off is necessary. Just explain the situation to your supervisor and I'm sure they will understand!

Just take a day, no one knows what you are doing. My job is very flexible so I went for some appointments and was able to make up the time and not use PTO.

Wow 5 days for the whole year? Employers stink sometimes. Don't be bullied. There's no way that's a reasonable amount of time for a year. People sometimes have things to do. I get 25 days and still run out lol.

I might have to for our tasting. My venue normally does tastings on Sundays, and I work every Sunday. FH most likely will have to as well, we don't have any of the same days off.

If your vendor can't meet outside of work time then schedule yourself off that day. if you get vacation time and sick days, use them...

If you have paid time off coming to you, it is absolutely up to you how you spend it. I work in a salon...I can take whatever day off I want or need, so I am lucky. Taking a Saturday -Monday off later this month to do our taste testing and meeting with both the DJ and florist.

If you are able to make it work with your job, I don't see why you can't.

I am taking a PTO day off this Wednesday for engagement photos (photographers work weddings every weekend). Otherwise, I'm very lucky that my job is pretty flexible with personal stuff.

I'm fortunate to have days off during the week. I haven't had to book any time off or call in sick. FH hasn't had to book any time off either.

If you have the time and your job allows there is nothing wrong with it. I took off a day from work to go wedding dress shopping and it was nice because there was hardly anyone in the bridal salon.

It depends on what type of job you have. I'm a retired nurse and our schedule was posted 4 weeks at a time and you had to submit a request for time off no later than 10 days before the end of the current 4 week schedule.

Keep in mind that if you're asking this question on your computer at work, your employer could be watching.
