My fiance and I aren't great at taking pictures, so I feel we need practice with poses and test what we like. We also are taking the pics after the ceremony, so we don't have much time to start figuring out what we want on the spot. I was looking at wedding photographs that I like, and was wondering...

My fiance and I aren't great at taking pictures, so I feel we need practice with poses and test what we like. We also are taking the pics after the ceremony, so we don't have much time to start figuring out what we want on the spot. I was looking at wedding photographs that I like, and was wondering if it would be rude in the photographers' point of view for me to tell them, "We would like this kind of shot/this style"

I am not expecting a replica of the pictures I show them, but just the idea. Of course, I know they would make it their own and we also have to make it our own, as the couple. Photography is expensive in every wedding and we just want to make sure we get the pictures we actually want. Would my photographer feel like I'm invading on their creativity or professionalism if I tell them what I'd like?

I made a private Pinterest board specifically for my Wedding Shotlist and added my photographer as a contributor. It's been great

I agree with Kris. Mine really didn't like the idea, but said if I had a couple that I really wanted to let them know. They said it takes up a lot of the time while taking pictures..making sure you get the exact shots. So I have a few saved and plan to let them know. But they have amazing reviews and I knew I wanted them before I even met FH. lol so I don't care what shots they take. I know they will be amazing!!

    Edit- spelling.

I don't like to stand in the way of someone's creativity. I am giving my photographer creative freedom. I love their work, so I don't think they need suggestions. It truly depends on the photographer, although many don't want to be micro-managed. In short, everything Jay Farrell said.

I had my engagement shot a few days ago and sent him inspo pics easy to recreate like us throwing leaves or walking down a path. He said he could have done them all even if I had just shown him that day but I appreciated that he had looked at them before and had some kind of plan. There was also one requiring a ladder that he needed to bring. I've already sent him desired wedding day pics. I'm trying to limit the number of pics I really want after the first batch and leave it up to him to do direct the "pose-y" ones. So that's my advice; don't go crazy on sending a 100 photos, send ones you love using props and needing special effects.
