Is it ok to forgo wedding favors?

I'm having a difficult time coming up with a wedding favor that I like...everything that I've seen is too casual but a good price range, or it's elegant enough but not very unique and it's usually pricey. Is it ok to just not have favors? I feel like they aren't a huge deal but I don't want to make...

As I read this post... I decided not to have any favors...but I will do traditional wedding cake squares in a box for each person...since the actual wedding cake is not traditional

@ursula d...what a lovely collection you've got! If you've got nothing but sensible friends and family, then go for it. I'm afraid too many of my relatives are over-fond of the "fun" of striking a match and blowing out the flame. In this post-smoking age without ashtrays on the tables, I'd be afraid of them burning the place down. ___

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of some modern equivalent -- something as cheap and disposable but as much an everyday necessity -- as matchbooks were. Small USB memory sticks maybe? SD cards for their cameras? They're still over three dollars each, which compares badly with the 50-cents range that matchbooks run.___

Yea, I think if you keep a few fire-extinguishers on hand and aimed at any family pyromaniacs, I'd go with the matchbooks!

I am having a photobooth so my favors are the pictures the guests take (they take home their strips). It'll be great for them and I'll get a copy of all the pictures so it'll be memories for us also.

After reading this my fiance and I decided to not do favors. Our budget is getting tighter and tighter and it's something people often pass over at weddings and don't remember. My sister didn't have favors at her wedding and nobody even asked or noticed! We will have a photo booth also, so that and the open bar will do!

I want to give out favors, but my budget isn't allowing it. If I were to do them, FH and I were talking about seed bombs (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Seed-Bomb/). The joke was that even if someone doesn't want one, they can toss it out their window on the way home. It'll still have a chance to grow some beautiful flowers!

I don't think you have to give out wedding favors. You can do some nice small things that work with the table decor such as personalized Hershey's kisses. I think they are very nice and I think guest would eat them.
