Is it chintzy to put information on the back of the invitation?

AQuixoticBride, on December 14, 2017 at 3:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

I'm designing my invitations on Vistaprint and I'm wondering if it would be odd to put details card like information on the back of the main invitation. It's currently just a blank space. The ceremony and reception are in the same place, so all that needs to go on an enclosure card is the hotel block and our website, I guess (unless there's other info I am missing). I would love to save paper, and I am doing a separate RSVP card, I'm sure etiquette would say it's a no-no, but has anyone else done this?

Definitely makes it less formal and you also run the risk of people not seeing it. I don't think most people turn over a wedding invite.

It wouldn't be an issue for me but I may miss it because I never flip things over...

I honestly wouldn't expect something to be on the back of an invitation, so I probably wouldn't even turn it over.

It wouldn't bother me and I feel like I would probably flip it over if I saw there wasn't another card with extra information.

It wouldn't look professionally done or formal to me, and as PPs have said you would risk people not getting the info if they don't think to flip it over, but if those things don't bother you, go for it.

We had our website on the back of our save the date, no one saw it, and we put them in the envelopes backwards. We did a separate card for the wedding just to be safe.

How about adding in very small print at the bottom "Turn card over for additional details"?

I did this on my invitations. I knew it would make them less formal, but our wedding will be pretty laid back with just close family anyhow. I just put "further event details on reverse" in small print at the bottom.

I got one like that recently. I didn't expect anything on the back and so I never looked. Didn't know it was two sides until the bride told me!

I just put my wedding website on the bottom of my invite and put the hotel block info on the wedding website.

But I think it would be find to put on the back, I look at both sides of stuff and assume guests would too if they thought any info was missing.

I wouldn't have thought people wouldn't flip it over - I turn everything over.

I just did it and made sure each invitation was facing where that would be the first thing they see. Either all my guests suck at RSVPs (which is HIGHLY possible) or I don't really think I would recommend it.

There are lots of designs that allow for information to be on side 2. For those worried about how professional or formal it will appear, there isn't anything to worry about. Vistaprint invitations = not formal.

I wouldn't worry, I think it is fine to include details on the back side. I always check the back and if they are placed in the envelope so it is the first thing you see you shouldn't have an issue.

I'm doing the same thing - all of the information is on our wedding website anyway - which they have to go to in order to RSVP - so everyone will see it at some point

ETA I just looked and we put "Information on reverse side" at the bottom

Super normal to. Maybe u could put the info and show us with a photo, blacking out personal info you wouldn't want on the internet and we could help u proof read to make sure it sounds nice?

I always flip things over to make sure I don't miss something so I think that's fine. However, you're likely to have guests like PPs that don't flip and they will miss it. Unless you put (continued on back) or something like that but that wouldn't look as nice.

I'd look at it, I don't see why it'd be a problem. Especially if it's not super essential info. If they're looking for info not listed on the front, they WILL look to see if maybe it's on the back.
