Is getting your nails done for someone else's wedding tacky?

Alejandra, on November 4, 2019 at 9:42 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Hello all,

I know this sounds dumb, but I guess I'm just wondering if getting your nails done for someone else's wedding tacky? We have a wedding to go to this weekend, its FH's cousin's wedding. We're just going as guests. I wanted to get a full set of nails, nothing super flashy, just a short coffin with a nude-ish color (or maybe a burgundy, those are definitely my favorite lol). I just wanna make sure its not tacky to go all out on nails when I dont think the bride will even have a full set, just regular polish. Very weird question, but its one of those things I don't ever think of until it comes up and now I'm not sure. Thanks peeps!

I personally love getting my nails done for weddings, but that's just me. I love dressing up and getting to feel pretty for a day.

There's nothing wrong with getting your nails done. There are people who have a full set of nails 24/7, regardless of the occasion. If that's not the brides style, that's totally fine but it doesn't mean you can't get your nails done. No one will think twice about it.

My nails are the one thing next to my eyebrows that I always keep up-to date each month. Its not tacky at all! Get them done, most guests for weddings get a mani/pedi for a special ocaastion like a wedding regardless if the bride has them done or not.

Not tacky at all. I almost always get mine done for special occasions, I would say this is one of them lol

I get my nails done pretty regularly and I always go right before going to a wedding. I don’t think it’s tacky at all.

People get their nails done for everyday life and I'm pretty sure they don't remove them to go to weddings. I have no idea why this would be a problem.

I do my nails all the time. Getting nails done is pretty common, especially for any kind of event. It's not tacky at all!

I always get my nails done for weddings (I get them done all the time since I have fake nails, but I'll make sure I get them done right before the wedding so I look nice as a guest)!

Nothing at all strange about this. It's like buying a new dress for a date, or an event you are attending. Part of your outfit.

It makes no difference that the bride won't have nails. It's not everyone's style.

I've had makeup done for my friend's wedding and I was not even in the wedding party. So having nails done is a nice pampering session for yourself.

I'm gonna be blunt here--unless you're doing something incredibly gaudy, I highly doubt anyone will even pay attention to your nails. So if getting your nails done makes you feel good, go do it!

I’m one of those gals who have a full set 100% of the time lol! I wouldn’t look like myself without them! I’d be honestly shocked if the bride would have an issue. You are dressing up for her wedding and it would be such a juvenile thing to get upset about.
