Is anyone else going over budget??

I knew my wedding would be a hefty expense when the time came, but never expected to be going over my "budget" by sooooooo much! Is anyone else in trouble with their FH for spending more than you originally planned?

We never really discussed an actual budget... when anyone asks I always say "as cheap as possible!" BUt yeah... it's costing a lot more than what I was hoping it would!

Yes, over budget, but trying not to stress too much!! : ) Was trying to keep it at $****, but it's probably going to run us $****. But that is with everything from engagement pics to a big honeymoon. Thought that a destination wedding would save us some money and it probably did, instead of having 75, we may have had 250 if we were doing it at home. But I have dated my fiance for 10 years and we are in our mid 30's so we have had some time to save. We are paying for it so why not do it the way we want! : )

Our budget was $5,000 but I was secretly planning on trying to spend only $4,000. Looks like I'll probably come in at about $3,500 unless I go crazy at the last minute and add stuff just because I get all nervous and think of things I want to include and don't have enough time to be sensible and talk myself out of them. Smiley smile

We took the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University last fall as part of our premarital counseling and it really made me get more realistic with how much money I'm willing to spend on one day. The "dream wedding" I originally wanted would have been about $12,000 but after taking that class I decided I'd rather start saving for retirement than spend a bunch of money on one day.

We set our budget for 25k but I think we might get closer to 28-30k by the time we are done.@Christina S. My FH and I have been together for 10years (High school Sweet hearts) so we've been saving up. We already have a house that I will be moving into once were married. We started making payments right after he propsed. We only make payments in cash not credit because we refuse to go into debit for our dream wedding. We are paying for this by ourselves for the most part. My parents are helping a little bit. It does help that my father is a baker so he is def making us a $1000 wedding cake for free!! Go dad!
