Is anyone doing sparkly bridesmaid dresses?

Is anyone having their girls wear sparkly/shiny bridesmaid dresses? I love the look of them but wondering if they will work. My dress has a lot of sparkle to it as well. Would having the BMs wear sparkles complement my dress or do the opposite? Would also love any advice on where to get sparkly...

This may be an unpopular opinion but I don't think they're very flattering on everyone. The Pinterest & model pics look good if course but please let your bridesmaids try them on and allow them to be honest about how they feel in them.

I'm doing them! I ordered them off Etsy from a shop called DesignBridal. I've seen other's use rent the runway. This is my MOH in the dress...we ordered one early since it would be coming from China. Other than a few loose threads I found last night which I'll sew back into the dress it's perfect! She said it's light weight and only a little itchy on the back.

I agree with spaghetti - the sequin dresses aren't forgiving on real people, especially in the midsection area.

Agree with those who say they aren't flattering on everyone. They make people's "problem areas" sparkle and shine. I have a somewhat flat stomach and I'd still feel uncomfortable

Please don't make your bridesmaids go through this. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding last year with a gold glitzy dress. It only seemed a little uncomfortable at first until everyone started dancing and got sweaty. It was absolutely horrible I could not wait to get back to the hotel and take that dang thing off. Never again. This is one time where it looks good, but.... is so impractical

My BM are wearing gold long sparkly dress from Sorella Vita. I let them pick the style of dress they felt comfortable in.

Not doing sequins but my girls dresses are beaded. I've got four girls total and I got their dresses from Adrianna Papell.

    They are gorgeous!

I hate this trend...as PP say, they do not look good on most real people. They are super unflattering and I think they just highlight all your problem areas.

I considered it for my BM, but when we went to try on dresses they all hated how they looked and felt in them. I wasn't crazy about them either. They are not flattering on everyone.

Yeah I agree about them not being flattering. any "imperfections" that people have (stomach pudge, thighs, hips etc) are just more noticeable in these types of dresses. I felt like I looked really wide in mine...

Pro-sparkle as long as not too cheesy. Beading is a nice option.

I like the look but second PPs that it could be very uncomfortable if not high quality (and sometimes even if it is) and would probably only look good if all your BMs are similar in shape to the models in the pictures. Now your original picture is a nice mix and match - with the mixture of chiffon dresses in there you could let your girls pick whether they'd want a sparkly dress (some would jump at the chance I'm sure) or a more traditional chiffon. Also keep in mind since you are having a July wedding that the sequins will make for a heavier and hotter dress.

ETA: The Adrienne Pappel dresses Michelle posted on the first page would be a nice compromise. They would probably be more flattering with the looser bodice as far as hiding pudge, and possibly not as itchy. However, if any of your BMs are blessed in the chest, a dress like that wouldn't be as easy for them to deal with since the dress wouldn't have any support in itself and it's hard to find a good strapless bra - they'd probably need a corset if you went with a style like that.

I chose gold sparkle, whether sequined or beaded but let my BMs pick out their own dresses. I personally think the Adrianna Pappel gowns are the most flattering fit for different body types. Only 1 BM picked one from AP though. The rest found their own at Nordstrom, Dillards, or Rent the Runway. I was surprised that all 4 of them picked completely sequined gowns. So much for mix and match.

Putting shiny material on most people's midsection is a terrible idea. It's not something that should be highlighted.

Pinterest makes them look good, but most real pics I've seen look awful. It's just not a flattering material for most.

Definitely read reviews. I've only worn short sparkly dresses with long sleeves so I avoided the itchy scratchy pits but I could see that being a problem!
