Is a Send Off a Must?

PrincessLawrence, on March 15, 2018 at 2:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 45

I have been seeing a lot of posts about it, but I never even thought of doing one. Do we have to? Wedding doesnt end till Midnight and dont want to stop the fun for it TBH

We aren't going to do one. I've never been to a wedding that did one either.

I've never seen one. Seems like overkill to me.

I have never been to a wedding with a send off either, we are not doing one. I think it 's more a photo-op, like you I don't want to stop the party for this.

Definitely not a must. We're skipping it.

I love the pictures you get from them but I'm undecided on having one. The reason being-the last wedding I attended did a mock send-off with sparklers early (because the photographer was getting ready to leave) and even though it was a mock one, the party never got back going after that and a lot of people left.

I've never seen one done. We are skipping it and taking the buses back to the hotel along with everyone else.

If you don't have a send off - how do you end the wedding? I have only really been to weddings with send-offs and that is how the guests know the party is over and its time to leave.

I think its fine if its an actual send off - where everyone is leaving - including the bride and groom - and s you just take one last photo. I've seen them twice and that was the case both times. The party was ending and everyone was leaving anyway - so they instruct everyone outside to the spot and then take a photo and everyone goes back to their hotel or home or wherever

If you're just disrupting the party for a photo opportunity I would skip it

I think we are doing one, but it isnt going to be everyone that is at the wedding. I think the way my photographer does it, is just the VIP's. That way the everyone else can stay have a good time! I think she is leaving an hour or hour and half before we have to end.

Your DJ/bandleader announces last song of the night. I've never seen a send-off at a wedding and we didn't have one at ours. Our bandleader just announced last song and then people left. DH and I were the last to leave.

The last dance when the dj announces it. That is how all the weddings I have been to ended

I guess send-offs might be a regional thing - I can not think of a single wedding I have been to that has ended without a send-off. The DJ/Bartender announcement makes sense, I have never seen it done that way though.

Thats how I feel as a lot of people say they stop in the middle so they get everyone in a photo. WHY?

I was at a wedding where they did a fake one in between the ceremony and cocktail hour for pictures. It was annoying and took a long time. We all just wanted to go inside, since drinks were calling, and it was starting to get chilly outside.

We are likely only getting our photographer for 6 hours, and I'm not sure how many people would be left at the end anyway. It's not something I care enough about to worry over.

I have like wands and I want to do a pick with my bridal party with them when we go to our location and maybe like a bridge type thing at the reception before everyone is seated. Other than that I just dont see the point other than for pictures but i rather people in action having a good time

We did it because I've never been to a wedding without one but it's totally not necessary.

That is a great idea. I never thought about doing one with just the VIPs.

I’ve been to one wedding with a send off. They did theirs at 7, because all of the church guests and elderly guests were leaving at that time. After the send off the rest of us went back inside to drink and dance, at the end of the night they announced the last song and left
