Is a day-of wedding coordinator/planner worth it?

I have done the majority of my planning already on my own (all vendors are booked, dress purchased, clear vision for overall look of the reception,etc.). However, I'm now starting to get a little nervous about the timeline & just the overall execution of the day, since I won't be able to oversee everything on my own. All of my close friends are my bridesmaids, so I can't really assign the day of tasks to any of them. Can some of you weigh in on your opinion on a day of coordinator? Or, what you did instead of using a coordinator? It seems like the going rate I have been seeing is between $800-$1,500 & while I think it would definitely be an awesome service to have, I just don't really have it in my budget at this point.

It was ABSOLUTELY 100000% the best money I ever spent. I didn't have to worry about a single thing, and my wedding was just perfect!!

I never thought I'd say this; but YES!!! It is just about the only regret I had...not having a DOC.

I shared the timeline with the vendors, FIL, H & BP.

    H didn't see it?!?

I swore I sent it to the whole WP; but I didn't.

There were a few mix ups that caused some stress; but we are married : )

ETA Must say the vendors were awesome n on the ball....no issues with them. LOL Just that H didn't know what was happening for lunch, had the GM try to call me as I was having a few getting ready pics done 'where were we' for our 1st look, ILs supposedly didn't know where to meet for pics, someone to tear down the décor afterwards, etc.

Yes! It's one of my biggest regrets that I didn't budget for and hire one. Like you I started out having most everything planned out so I figured I didn't need it, but as things days got closer to the day-of I was getting increasingly overwhelmed with having to deal with vendors that I would have loved for someone else to take that responsibility. Plus, things would have been a bit more organized and less stressful for me had I had one, but it worked out.

I have a very close friend who, if I didn't have to cap my bridesmaids off at 7, would have been my 8th bridesmaid. She is extremely organized, calm under pressure & assertive. She has offered to help & I am honestly thinking about allowing her to take on this task. My DJ will act as my master of ceremonies for our reception & my venue does give us a coordinator for the day of who helps direct the vendors & oversees all catering & service., including set up & break down. I am okay with dealing with my vendors and doing everything leading up to the wedding, but really want someone to act as my point person the day of & I think my friend, with a clear timeline & direction, could really help. Our ceremony & reception are in the same place & we are having a wedding of around 100 people. Has anyone ever used a friend or close family member before to do something similar?

Yes absolutely! Best decision I've made so far. She's been amazing and has taken care of everything!

@Tabets Wifey, if you feel that afterwards there was nothing that happened/why did we hire one...that probably means they did their job/did it well! LOL
