Is 8k a doable budget??

Diana, on August 15, 2016 at 7:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

We are paying for our own wedding and are very simple people. We live in Honolulu HI and thinking to just do a beach wedding. Is 8k a doable budget? If so, any tips or ideas as to how to cut/keep cost low? Im all about DIY!

Mine will be under 4,000. We will have less than 50 people including us.

The key to remember is the bigger the guest list, the more expensive it will be to host your guests properly!

I told my MatronOH that I was shooting for $10K and she said there was no way in hell. She spent about $35K on hers. I'm realizing since I've been booking things that $10K is not reasonable for what we want and we are now willing to spend more on certain things. We are having about 200 people. So if your guest list is small it might be doable. Just depends on what is important to you!

How many guests? If under 50 it's probably doable. Don't self cater, don't make your guests pay for their alcohol. There are a lot of DIY centerpiece and decorations ideas. Italian and BBQ are really great options for low-cost catering. Not having a bridal party can also help with costs. That's just a start though! But it will be tough if you have 100+ guests

That should give you an idea of cost for your area and tell you if $8k is enough.

We did $8k for less than 60 guests, so it can be doable but t depends on your guest list. That is also San Diego, not Hawaii.

It would definitely depend on how many people you are hosting

We are doing 10k but didn't have to pay for my 1k dress or 5k honeymoon or the cake or the dj or the band. But we still spent 10k out of our own pockets

The best answer to 'is it realistic' is to look at venues to see what that costs, because that will be about 1/2 of your budget. That would give you 4000.00 for 50 people. In NJ, that's not really do-able, but it might be where you are.

We are having 100 people and it costs 15k just for the venue, floral, videographer, food and alcohol, cake. So we are giving ourselves roughly $22k for overall. Take note my brother in law would be paying for our photographer and my dad would pay for my wedding ring, which is not customary but i would take it!
