If I get married this time around it will be my 3rd marriage. I was 18, young the first time. 27 the second time stayed married for 15 years and now I'm back on the dating scene. My boyfriend has never been married and has no children, very independent and knows what he wants and he's what I've...

My boyfriend has never been married and has no children, very independent and knows what he wants and he's what I've wanted and needed my first two times around, so why am I so scared if this is what I've been waiting for??

He's not really in a rush, but he has voiced to me that he wants a wife now. He's never been married , has no kids and he said he's getting older and he doesn't want to be alone anymore. He never got married because he said he's seen his friends get heartbroken when their marriages failed and it was too much to divorce. He's also ex military and has seen his friends get dear john letters while deployed and they go home to no wife no kids that scared him! Now that he's older he just wants to settle down and he's done playing games. I've met his entire family and his friends and everyone seems just as happy and excited about our relationship as we are! In the beginning I was asking the same questions how could a great guy like him be single and he's easy on the eyes, he works, he's very independent and he takes care of business! So far everything he said he was going to do he's done. Next on the list is him buying a house and he's looking for one now and wants me to move in with him. Right now we both have our own separate place. I spend a lot of nights and weekends with him and he wants me with him permanently now. He knows what my marriages were like and he said he wants to show me that he's the last man for me! He's really been wonderful to me!! What I've tried not to do is compare him to my exes but since I'm trying to make the big decision to marry again I have to compare! Because I know what I will except and what I won't so I know what to look for now!

Marsha, you need to do more than pray. Prayer without action is a waste of time. If you don't heal yourself from previous relationships, you're going to repeat the same cycle over and over again. You need to see a therapist. I didn't go to therapy until my late 30's. I was dating the same type of guy over and over again and I was repeating the same behaviors over and over again.

IMO, a year is not enough time to really get to know someone. FH and I have been together for 6 years and sometimes we're still learning new things about each other. We didn't move in together until 5 years into the relationship and I'm so glad because I was working on myself which in turned helped us to have a better relationship.

Every relationship and situation is different, but there is no rush. Get to know you and love yourself first. Your hesitation to be vulnerable can cause issues within your relationship.

This will be my FHs third marriage and my first. We have been living together for almost 6 years and I always say he needed the practice before he found me. My advice would be dont rush into marriage and you should move into together first to see how that goes.

He has had long term relationships. I don't think a therapist is really gonna help me make a decision to marry or move in together. You can be married or in a relationship for years and still not know everything about a person. I'm not gonna rush into marriage that's why I'm still in my own place for now and when I want to be with him or visa versa I'm at his place. We enjoy each other and I can tell it's genuine! I'm gonna take my time and ride it out to see the end result. I was married for 15 years and I'm really a good judge of character.
