I did a consultation with a makeup artist and she did an amazing job, I loved everything about the makeup and her ability to see what I needed for my big day. Unfortunately I think her price is ridiculously high. She is $175 for just my makeup and $24 mileage fee to come to me (the site is 12 miles from her home)... So I did a consultation with someone else and I loved her eye makeup but her contouring and foundation wasn't nearly as good. She, however, charges $260 for myself and my entire wedding party. What should I do??? Keep in mind my wedding is about a month away!

The person who did my makeup was ridiculously expensive (more than yours) but the woman knows what she is doing, so I went with her. It was my wedding and I had to look my best, and I loved her work so just went with her. Would I use her again for another occasion? Hell no! But if I'm the bride, then yes. I didn't regret it. I did airbrush makeup and it lasted all day and looked great. See what else you can find though if she really isn't in your budget. I'm sure you can find someone more reasonably priced who does a good job. But I definitely don't regret my decision. I look good in my pictures! Lol.

I paid over $200 for make-up. $225 I believe. Like you, I loved her work and no one else came close (I had a different artist do my make-up for engagement photos and it was awful, I hated it). My wedding day make-up was perfect for me and worth every penny. So yes, I would pay that if you love her work.

@ Kerri M . I think we are using the same person. ( Marie Pierre)I hope she's fantastic for that price not to mention I won't be having a trial done.

Each artist is priced differently - according to their service experience, portfolio of work, products used, years in the business - a lot of ppl are cheaper because they have no business experience, may not show up, and have no idea how to do makeup for high definition cameras - some people charge more due to their availability and how in demand they are - they have a minimum per person/hour due to their popularity. to me "cheap" and "wedding makeup" shouldn't even be in the same sentence! its considered a luxury on-site service. not everyone thinks their makeup and hair is important for weddings - but many do and book months and sometimes years in advance along with their photographer.

Is this in your budget? I paid $200 for my make-up artist, plus $125 travel fee. She did myself, my sister and my Mom, and she charged $200 for me (this included the trial as well), and $100 or $125 for the others each. I hired a different make-up artists to do my bridesmaids, she just did the eyes and charged $30/girl. We had to hire two make-up artists due to timing.

It totally depends if this fits in your budget and their skill level. I had done trials with others and wasn't happy with them, but this lady was really highly recommended and did a great job.

I would say that if the trial went well and it is in your budget to go with it. Knowing that you can trust your make-up artists to deliver on your big day is a big stress relief.

That does seem a little high for just makeup but you are very close to your wedding date. If it is way out of your budget I would try and find someone else. If you can afford it and really loved her work I would just go for it!

I'm paying $200 for hair and makeup... that includes hair and makeup trial and then an extra makeup session as well.
