Inviting family to watch online but not be at the wedding

Kim, on December 28, 2019 at 9:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
So just between first cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles, parents and grandparents my FH and I have over 200 people. We desperately want to invite everyone plus a few close friends, however our venue and budget wont allow it. What we decided to do was pay a videographer and put a video online for the ones who we cant invite personally. How do we tactfully invite them to watch the online video instead of to the actual wedding?

Ehhh I don't know if I'd bother honestly. In my experience, nobody is as interested in the wedding video as you and your spouse will be.

I agree with the first comment. Just prioritize who you think is necessary to be there. I don’t think there is a respectful way to go about that, so just try to do whatever you can to have who you want there. Good luck!

I don’t think there’s any tactful way to do this. You’re either invited or you’re not. Most people aren’t going to be flattered that you’re allowing them to watch your wedding online.

I wouldn't "invite" anyone to watch it online. I would instead send invites to the ones invited to the actual wedding then once the wedding is over, post the wedding so anyone who wants to see it can. If you want to keep it more private, then send the information on where the video can be viewed to those you want to see it.

The other option we were trying to workout was to stream the ceremony so everyone can feel like they are there. But we are still working out the details with our videographer on how to do that without something like facebook live.

I would skip this. It's sweet how you're thinking of them, but it might offend them, unfortunately
