Help me please. I am trying to figure out the time to send invites. I want to mail them tomorrow. My mom thinks it's too early. I want responses by September first for a October 20 wedding. Help me please. Should I mail them tomorrow or wait little longer. My thought process was that give my guests about three months to request times off and what not from work if needed. And gives them plenty of time to book hotels also.

That is a good time line. Especially if you didn’t send out save the dates. I sent my invites out in May and requested a June deadline for an August wedding. I figured they would be able to make arrangements from work and vacations.

We sent ours at the end of April, so right about 90 days prior (a little less). Our save the dates went out 10 months prior.

Don't chase people down! That's some advice someone gave me. They said don't chase them down and if they couldnt take the 5 minutes to RSVP, even by text...then they shouldn't be there anyway. What do you think of that? Lol. Start crafting a sweet but blunt text. "I'm sorry you will not be in attendance for our special day. Please keep us in your thoughts and have a great Summer" or something. I don't think I could do it.Smiley smile

“Chasing down” is maybe not the best phrase but, do follow up with anyone you don’t hear back from!! Sure if you’re like 10 messages in, write them off. But, if you simply didn’t receive an RSVP from someone, it is essential to follow up. Maybe they didn’t give you 5 minutes of their time, sure ...but maybe the post office screwed up and their invite or response got lost in the mail. It’s uncommon I’m sure, but we had an uncle we knew intended to come but never received an RSVP from. We followed up and he said he was coming and swore up and down he sent in his card. We added him to our count and wrote his response off as an excuse. A couple weeks after the wedding a very crumpled envelope arrived in our mailbox— uncle’s RSVP card!! Postmarked before our rsvp date!! So not only did he respond, he did so right on time, we just didn’t get it ! Who knows where the heck that thing was for all those weeks, but, we were very glad we followed up !

Mail them tomorrow definitely. Especially if you want responses that early.

It's too early to send the invitations, and also too early of an RSVP date. August 1 is about 7 weeks before your wedding, which is actually when invitations are supposed to be sent (6-8 weeks); why do you want people to RSVP then? It can cause hardship on your guests if you give them an unreasonable RSVP date, and is also problematic for you - they're more likely not to know whether or not they can attend the wedding yet, and you're more likely to get false RSVPs, either yes or no, and to have to chase people down to get answers.

If you have already sent out save the dates then I would wait until 6 weeks before your wedding to send them out. If you are just sending out the invitations then you should send them now.

3 months is kind of early but then again, i sent mine out maybe 2.5 months early so i shouldn't be talking ahah.

the problem with sending them so early is that you'll definitely need to constantly remind people. i get guests asking me all the time "what day was it again?" or people lagged in RSVPing anyway since they saw the deadline wasn't until later.

My wedding is January 4, 202 and I will be sending invitations out in 2 weeks, which is 6 months ahead. Majority are out of town guests and January is a pretty peak season in this area of Florida. Many Airbnb places are already sold out. The majority of my guests are using this as a vacation and giving them ample time to make arrangements is essential. I sent Save the dates over 3 months ago, and many made their accomodations arrangements that early. Know your guests and how much time they will need to make arrangements.
