Invites out!

Rebecca, on June 11, 2019 at 2:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
FH and I went through the rain to the post office today to send off the invites!

Very excited and very nervous. We are doing online RSVPs, so we shall see how that goes (I'm no longer optimistic given these forums).

Our invites were a weird weight, so we had to use 2 different types of stamps, but I honestly don't care - they are out, our RSVP date is in 6 1/2 weeks, and we keep coming home to packages, so everything is just really overwhelming.
Now it's time for detail stuff. (To FH, this always means "seating chart", no matter how many times I point out the other really obvious things we need, like transportation FOR HIM, HIS RING, and so on...)

    Yay Smiley smile

That’s a major milestone reached, well done!!

Does it all feel much more real now that the invites are out? I've heard couples say this before Smiley laugh

Congratulations! This is an exciting time. If you don't mind me asking: how did things work out with the ceremony situation?

We're using the reception venue and a dear friend to officiate.

    Thank you!

Tell your FH you'll also need your RSVPs back before you do a seating chart too! 😄

If it makes you feel any better, we did online-only RSVP and it worked out perfectly! We didn't have any issues whatsoever, even with our older guests. And, we were able to follow up with our non-responders the next day because we knew their responses weren't held up in the post office.

Congratulations! We had to use a $0.70 stamp for the invite and a regular stamp for the RSVP, no one noticed haha!

This excited me but terrifies me at the same time. Have you really read horror stories about online RSVP? I chose that option because in this day and age it made it a lot easier (in my mind) but now I may regret it. One thing I did notice is when they type in to RSVP their names if they are bringing a plus one and I didn't know the plus ones name they will just have to add plus 1? I don't want to have to ask everyone ahead of time their plus ones name in case it changes and things like that so I wasn't sure how you handled this? Also what is your wedding date? I see august but whats the date! and when did you set your RSVP date? I want to get mine in the mail at the end of this month because we have a destination wedding so people need to plan for lodging. We are getting married October 13th and I set my RSVP date for 9/15 because we have to have final guest count to caterer by 24th.

Lol my FH is absolutely the same...I think he’s excited about the seating chart. Slow your roll sir, it’s a year out. Too funny...

exciting to get the invites out I’m sure! I’ll definitely be interested in how the RSVP goes, I’m on the fence about that at the moment.

Spend any amount of time on these forums, and you'll just see so many posts of RSVP woes, even online ones.

We've tried to get everyone's plus 1 names - partly for politeness, and also because we want to be clear who we are inviting.

We set our RSVP for Aug 1, for an Aug 24 wedding. Our venue wants final headcount at Aug 14, so I figured 2 weeks to chase down those stragglers... (and also because we have international guests).

Yay, that's so exciting! We are ordering our invitations this weekend, and they will be sent out next month. I am also nervous for the RSVP aspect. Honestly hoping that our count is lower than what we sent out haha
