Invitees v. Attendees

What is a good % to assume of your guest list that you invite that will not be able to attend?

You must be able to accommodate 100% of the people you invite.

While planning, assume everyone can come. Realistically, it depends a lot on whether everyone is local or if you have a lot of OOT guests. I've heard some destination weddings can have a 40% - 50% decline rate, depending on the location, but my coworker got married in Italy last month, expecting that a lot of people couldn't come, and he was shocked that almost everyone could attend. It really varies.

100% is the only attendance number you should assume.

0% is the only number you should assume for declines

We were HOPING that only 150 would show for our wedding but we sent out almost 300 invites turns out we had 250-275 come. Thank goodness I've been to weddings where they didn't have enough seats, etc so we knew what not to do. We ended up calling our venders at the 2 week mark adding another 100.

They have told me 10-15% of guest typically don't attend in my case 62 out of 80 are attending (we are having a small wedding)

If you budget for 100% to attend, you will almost certainly be under budget in the end. We invited 140 and 80 are attending. Our wedding is now ~8k cheaper than what we planned for.

We budgeted for all 140 of our guests...we were required by the venue to pay for at least 100, so we're hoping for 100 or more.

Make sure you can accommodate everyone that you invite! However, it's unlikely that everyone you invite will be able to come. For example: my FH has some elderly relatives in Louisiana. My FMIL told me that they don't travel and probable won't come. There's no way to really know how much people will attend until the RSVPs are in-- just assume that everyone is coming when you plan.

A thread was up last night. One of the brides on here said she got every single RSVP back in the mail. And everyone of them with the exception of one is attending.

We are prepared for 100% attendance, but realistically knowing our guest list, we're guessing 80% attendance.

Right now we have about a 17% decline rate with 40 people who still haven't RSVP'd so I'm assuming we will be at 20% decline rate when its all said and done.

The standard answer is that for local weddings an average of 75% of invitees will attend. This number is higher for smaller weddings as it tends to be all people who are very close to the couple. But as people said above, prepare for full attendance.

Always be prepared for everyone to say yes.

We had 5% decline rate but planned on 100% to be safe.

Invited 120 and hoping only 80 come. Luckily we have a minimum so can flexible with extra such as 4 hour bar or 3 hour bar. Appetizers table versus passed appetizers. Its a destination wedding so hoping the obligatory invites do not come.

You shouldn't hope anyone you invite dont come. If you dont want them or cant afford them - dont invite them.

I already have 1/4 of my response cards back - 100% accepts

We are assuming about 90% will attend. We can afford and accommodate 100% though.

100% attendance. You could end up screwed. I had about 95% acceptance.
