Invite Officiant to Reception?

We are getting married at a church and having the reception at another location. Is it customary to ask the officiant and his wife to the reception?

I get invited to receptions all the time. It's a courtesy and I express my appreciation but never stay. I'd much rather have dinner at home with my family. Best wishes!

If the officiant is your pastor/family/friend yes. If it's someone you're actively paying, then I'd say no unless you want to.

Our officient put in his info that if invited (and they're available for the entire evening) he and his wife attend some receptions.

We invited them but don't know if they're coming yet.

It's not that common in my area either, we are inviting him but only because he's FH's family's friend
