Hi All,

If my wedding is July 2nd, when should I send my invites? Also, when should my RSVP date be? Thanks in advance!Smiley smile

Invitations should be sent 6-8 weeks before your wedding, so I would send them around early May or mid May.

For your RSVP date, when does your caterer/venue need a final count? I would set your RSVP date for a week before that, just to give yourself extra time to reach out to those who forget to RSVP by the deadline.

Thank you! That is what I was planning on doing, but I saw some brides saying that they sent their invites out last week and their wedding is in May. So, I was a little confused. Maybe it was a destination wedding or something else. Thanks again.

Sometimes people send them out 8-12 weeks in advance for a destination wedding or for a wedding on a holiday weekend, especially if most of their guests need to travel to attend. For a wedding in town (or where most of the guest list doesn't need to travel), 6-8 weeks ahead of time should be fine!

There is no situation where invites should be sent before 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Send save the dates now via phone call/text/email which costs nothing and has been done that way forever (phone call and word of mouth only before email came along). If they are sent before 6-8 weeks, you run into 2 faux pas: guests lose and forget the information and they think you are B listing.

The caterer needs a final headcount 2-3 weeks before the wedding. No one anywhere can confirm before 4 weeks what their schedule is. The rsvp date is a week before the final headcount is due so you have time to track down anyone who did not respond. When you do contact them, you don’t hang up the phone until you get a yes or no.
